Question battery light question

scenario: new battery, car starts up just fine, but battery light stays on today for a while and then turns off unless I rev up, it pops back on. Also the poor car got left out in the rain yesterday. Could the terminals getting wet be cause of this light comming on? I jsut never have seen this happen before.
Thank you in advance for any input.

John

The "battery light" is NOT an indication of a bad battery. It is an indication that the battery is NOT CHARGING, most likely the alternator is going out.
