best hotel under 80$/night for single bed?

i'm being taken there sometime this late summer/early fall and would like to get the heads up from someone that might actually know. i know our budget is small, but i'd like to be within walking/really short driving distance of the river walk.

also, got any suggestions as what to spend our time doing? and hittin' it doesn't count.

i love musuems and history, but i figure i can only gaurantee the alamo. also, is the riverwalk the best place to live it up? i figure it would be from the time i've been there before. heh i want to get so messed up i fall in the river adjacent to the little sidewalks on the riverwalk.

the river walk has a lot of good stuff. you have to go eat at dicks. in the way of a cheap hotel, use your car. ive been known to sleep in the back of my truck on several occasions.

but seriously, there are a lot of hotels downtown near the riverwalk. i dont know which ones are under 80 a night, but im sure that someone will know.:2thumbup:

Getting ON the riverwalk for less than 80 ain't gonna happen at any place you want to stay at. My folks stayed at a crappy place where the river had been DRAINED and they still had to pay 150 a night. You might be able to sneak in on the street side for 80, but then why bother? If you are really on such a tight budget just crash at an outlier hotel and drive in. It's not like you can drink anyway

BTW, who are you coming with? Family, friends, or a chick? You definitely do not want to take a girl to a fleabag motel on the cheap (well, for more than an hour anyway

)

hey austin.. it sounds like you have 2 people coming... if it were just you, i would offer my brother's old room! haha. but, if you have two people, i doubt the 'rents would be cool with that.

i will probably be visiting up there pretty soon, and yes ill be staying with jeff when i visit, but ill be moving up there in 5 weeks or so.

my parents have another house they rent out sometimes.. i lived there last summer maybe arange a deal... if you take the number 5 bus you can be at the riverwalk in a few minutes lol!
