Best Tubular K Member for a '94 GT Stang?
I'm looking for information from anyone who has used a tubular K member or installed a tubular k member with respect to the good and the bad.
One thing I must make you all aware of is the application, and that is for mainly street use and cornering. As I understand it some are built with more bracing for handling corners better than others that tend to get stress cracks or even break. I am not interested in using one that would require modifications to the fenders or fender wells. The more information and first hand experiences the better... So let me here from ya!!! ![]()

quality = price
I like the UPR kit for the money . Do you plan on going with a coil over strut in the front or keeping the stock a arms and springs ? |

The main thing for me is to make sure I get something that is good and will stand up to daily street use and hard cornering with the occasional run at the local strip. I was also told that I should look for DOM tubing along with tig or jig welded units, but I was also told to stay away from a chrome moly unit as they break down after a few years and are mainly ment for strip use.

AJE is really good from what I hear . You might also look into the Maximum Motorsports unit but I don't think it works with the factory control arms .

I just got my UPR for my 95 and I am fighting trying to get it to fit. My QA1 fit great except for the bolt holes where a pain in the ass. Granatelli has a nice kit for cheap and it is pretty much a copy of the Maximum Motorsprts setup for way cheaper. If I decide to go with one for my 98, that was they way I was leaning

AJE for lightweight racing, and maximum motorsports for a daily driver from what I've been told by a few shops. The MM is way more expensive though, but it's built beefier. I was going to get a K-member when I had my longtubes installed, but was too indecisive on which would better suit me and also read some horror stories about them, so I just stuck with the stock one for now. I might still change it one day.

Personally no, I have read a lot of great things about the MM but the price was just to much for me to swallow. I want to try the Granatelli as it looks identical to the MM. I will try to find some pics

Again... this was coming from Maximum Motorsports. I also asked them about the Griggs setup and they stated that it was the only setup that can perform as well as their setup... but the Griggs setup requires common inspections for stress cracks and is really meant for race applications only.

I am not sure what value this has on your sn-95, but a buddy of mine here in Houston bought and installed the Granatelli k member in his fox body coupe. He had to enlarge a couple of holes in the k member to get it on and only had it on his car for about 6 months before a weld broke. He has a street setup 347 and takes it to the track about 3-4 times a month to "play". He has had the UPR front coil over kit now and loves it, also said it gives the car a better handling feel than the Granatelli. i also have a fox and am planning to buy the UPR set up at FFW coming up in a couple of weeks.

The UPR I was told is better for going straight because of the lack of bracing. I was also told the chromoly version needs to be checked every now and again for stress cracks and such due to the degradation of the metal over time. Chromoly over time apparently will lose it's strength and begin to flex, fatigue, and crack or break.

Looks like you may need to get the more expensive MM k member for your '98 if you go that route. ![]()

Yeah, I say go MM for the daily driver. Probably what I'm going to get if I decide to go that route again. 96GreenGT on here has the AJE on his daily driver and hasn't had any problems with it, so that id definitely one of my top two choices along with MM probably. Better to pay for extra safety then to pay medical bills.
