brake trouble

my 01 gt went metal to metal on the front rotos today. so when i got the parts and went home to change them i couldnt get the disc off to save my life. i used a ton of pb blaster and was using the BFH to try and break the rotor free of the hub. anybody else know any tricks?

Are they the stock rotors? Were you hitting both sides of the rotor? I would also try hitting it all around the edges where the vents are toward the center of the hub. Maybe a bigger BFH is in order?

But he has an 01 and I doubt the brakes have lasted 7 years from birth. Good point though, but I am sure the brakes have been replaced some point in time by now.

I had the same problem. I was at the "Do it your self" Auto Skills Shop at Lackland AFB changing my rotors and pads. Mine were stuck and I was hitting the rotors HARD with a rubber mallet to no avail. Then I got some help from the onsight mech who weigh about 350 lbs. He rared back and smacked the piss out of these rotors and they popped right off, persevearance.

damn, what a cluster fuck this turned out to be! so i thought i could get away with replacing the pads and machining the rotors. WRONG! turns out i needed new rotors a left f brake hose and both calipers and my rears were shot too. took all of 8 hours and 4 front calipers to get the job done. i bought 2 calipers from full service and the line fitting for the banjo bolt was striped out. so i had to go to zone and get 2 more. pretty shitty day but at least i know my car will stop now. the only down side is now i cant get my exhaust because i spent the money on brakes.

HAHA... today I helped my dad do all 4 corners of my mom's Benz wagon and guess what happened when we got to the rear rotors?? STUCK! First thing I thought of was you but after a lot of ZEP penetrant, a rubber mallet, and a big ball peen... my dad said... "get the sledge!" But we stayed conservative and were able to get them off with the mini sledge. Using the full size sledge woulda been a lil' overkill.. And as you know, it was hotter than hell outside so we were also trying not to have a heat stroke or something...

Good! I did mine on my car about a year ago. Only problems I had were the caliper/bracket bolts and the rear caliper with the special tool. The tool I got was kinda hard to use.
