Building your own mufflers

Has anybody ever built there own muffler before? or where I can find info on this? I have a pair of 3 chamber flowmasters which I can't get rid of, so was thinking of modify them to make them louder. I have all the equipment to do this, all I need is a internal design.

I wonder what would happen if you drill a hole in one of the baffles the size of the outlet or inlet with a hole saw?
