burning oil...

i talked to someone a while back about this, and they said that its probably my o-rings messed up, letting oil thru and burning the oil or something. i dunno, i mean i dont necessarily know much about internals. but does this sound right? because im getting so tired of adding 2 quarts of oil every 2.5 weeks:2thumbdwn

its getting really old, and expensive. if this IS the problem, im gonna start setting up shop to get a new block.

anyone got any suggestions or ideas as to what the problem actually is?

im pretty sure the guy was right, because my exhaust smells HORRIBLE. even more horrible recently. i also, occasionally get white smoke, but not very often, and it doesnt come out that much at all, just small puffs.

Damn 2.5 quarts every 2 weeks

If your o-rings are bad, the oil will travel around the piston and then will get combusted in the combustion chamber, usually creating white smoke and a burning oil smell. And if it's 2.5 quarts every 2 weeks, then you definitely have a problem. Sometimes a bad pcv system can cause oil consumption, but it wouldn't be that bad.

Getting a leakdown test done will tell you how good your rings are sealing. That will let you know if that is the problem.

If i were you though, i would def. rebuild the block or get a new one. I know City Motor Supply in Dallas is an awesome rebuilt block shop, thats where Aarons motor came from in the Z. I will ask him how their Ford supply is.:jeff:

they were great to aaron. They give you a one year warranty on it. the guy that did aarons cam swap screwed up his motor royally, used silicone instead of a gasket to put the oil pan backo n. Sucked up silicone into the oil pump and fried the motor. Aaron took it back to them with the big ass aftermarket cam and they fixed it for him no questions asked. pretty cool guys too.:jeff:

what bad have you heard about them?

I had a guy at work buy one of their engines. The only problem I saw he had was the valve job. Some valves should have been replaced because there was no preload on the lifters but the short block was done right. He's planning on heads down the road so it wasn't a big deal.:jeff:
