Buy up MILs while you can

You can no longer buy MILs or o2 sims, except for what stores still have in stock. FBI crack down. Sucks. BTW, EPA is making stops around dealerships to check emissions, so I guess we'll be seeing more tickets coming soon for those of us with O/R pipes.

the FBI is shutting down the production of systems which can bypass emission systems mandated by the US government. Now the FBI is said to have involvement, but that might not be true. The fact is that MIL eliminator production has ceased. I would love to hear different so if anyone has other info that'd be good.

Just got off the phone with Steve from BBK and he confirmed that after they are sold out no more will be made. Steve is in Tech at BBK headquarters. # is 951-296-1771. I got this info from a family member of mine affiliated with the US gov.

Fear not. For about $20 (including a new soldering iron) you can make a set of MIL eliminators.

This diagram came from Fordmuscle.com.

I made a set of these for my 01 GT and they worked like a champ.

Absolutely sir. I have cats on mine, but you know the question came up today because I was going to delete them on my girl's Firebird. After all this, I guess we should just get ready to make power with cats.

IN reality there is absolutly nothing they can do to stop a company selling such a device if they simply add the words ..." for off road or racing use only " to every advertisment and product package.

Thats exactly how manufactures of off road exhaust get away with selling the exhaust systems to begin with that don't have cats.

the problem is they didn't do that so they are now geting owned for all the ones they sold previously.

Secondly that story is a joke with the so called estimations the instalation of 02 sims doesn't increase emisions .. it simply stops the computer from knowing that the emisions have increased.

The after cat 02 is not used for fuel calculations its just used for the on board diagnostics to see if the cats are doing their jobs..
so a car with these installed is not puting out any more polution then without it simple isnt letting the computer know that the cats are not installed / and or are malfunctioning.

i gaurentee you will simply see companies still selling them but labeling them as a off road racing use product.

BBK won't be though. that's 100% for sure. they already label on their website as "off road use only". SLP has already removed their listings. same for Vortech. Maybe later they will sub out their MIL manufacturing over seas so that they can still be imported.

Some real tech...

First, it's the EPA that's cracking down, the FBI wouldn't be involved in environmental issues. Second, the EPA has done away with the "for offroad use only" safeguard. Third, the EPA has practically put an aftermarket company (Casper's Electronics, a popular company among the Buick folk) out of business for their sale of emissions-altering, or "defeat," devices, so of course BBK, Vortech, etc. are complying.

lol
First caspers is NOT a "big compay" its a small time operation smaller then fuel injection specialties here in town that sells wiring harnesses

they don't have the money that vortech bbk etc etc would if they were to fight it.

The off road use only caveat will still apply.

Other wise there will be no such thing anywhere as custom tuning in the future as anyone with access to the computer tuning can do the same thing < turn off emissions > and that software then would be illegal to sell just like the 02 sims etc.

bbk vortech etc etc they removed them because they dont make enough money off them for the possible hassle to be worth it they would be a miniscule amount of sales comaparativly for those companies.

but you watch you will still be able to buy them from importers etc etc.
