A/C Not working after engine install

So, my 2000 Mustang GT developed an knocking rod and I ended up hiring a mechanic in early January to replace the engine with a used , same year engine. everything seems to be working fine with the engine itself. The only problem is that the A/C no longer gets cold. I took it back to him three weeks ago, and he said something about some rings since being worn out and the freon leaking and replaced them. The A/C was cold for about a week and now it seem to have gone back to the original problem , not blowing cold air. I'm not a car guy so I have no idea what the problem could be. Any ideas? The ac was working before the engine swap. He charged me 125 to supposedly "fix" it when i took it in the second time. now i'm hesitant to take it to him again, but i feel he is responsible? any opinions?

he is jewin you....he shouldnt have had to disconnect the ac in the first place but probly did anyways to get it out of your way....need to put some dye in it and see where its leakin from. and then fix it pull a vacumn and recharge it

Whenever the lines are disconnected, the system must be evacuated, charged, blah blah. If he just put more Freon in it, coulda blown a seal or orifice tube. I wouldnt say he's necessarily responsible, but not innocent. You have to understand that the weakest link in a system can change with the fix of another problem. IE, replacing water pump, then radiator hoses develops a leak from the added pressure of the system working correctly. Take the car by Carlisle Auto Air on San Pedro, good people and fair prices from when Ive used them before. You can get PAG oil to check for leaks in the system, but be warned that shit stinks

go get some r134a with stop leak and dye from any parts store with a gauge and fill it yourself. If you have a leak the stop leak might help or youll see the dye where you have a leak. BTW do not overfill the system either it will not work correctly as well.

so i finally took it back and the mechanic who says it some valve that seems to be leaking freon. he tells me he doesnt have the tool to remove the valve and sends me to oreilly's to ask if the have it, which seems kinda weird. oreilly's doesnt have the tool or the valve and so i go back to this mechanic....who then says i have to go to the dealership and ask for the part and the tool, at this point i ask him why i have to do all the running around when im asking him to fix it...he gives me some story that he's about to leave and basically seems like he doesnt want to fix it so i walk off leaving him talking...fricking bs man...what a crappy mechanic...so i guess carlisle auto air it is...although i heard they are kinda expensive, but at least i know what the problem is now.

Go to CarX on Blanco near west ave. talk to Jody (96greengt) he is an LSSer and a great ASE certified mech. He is off on Mondays but Id stop by and talk to him before heading off somewhere he maybe able to do a little better on $$
