why would u manually shift your car anyways? its not good for it for one, also the trans will downshift accordingly to how much u mash it.

its better to just leave it and D and let it rip. any shiftpoints you should just adjust with a tuner. I would spend the money on that before i spent it on tranny work to fix the problem you are explaining. Is there any other tranny problem? a stall and gears will make the biggest gain in your car.

yeah i know automatic is smart and all lol but it worries me that i cant pull it into first gear manually i just dont want it to be a sign of a soon to go out tranny and not see it but if i leave it in od it runs perfect and realy smooth on shifts

what about D? will it hold it in 3rd?
the AOD is kinda funky and useless 1st is first, you haev to shift to D to go to second and then pull it back to 1 to make it stay in 2nd. Then go to D again for 3rd. Its honestly useless. If you start in 1 will it stay in 1st?

I shift my aod... it has a shift kit on it. I personally think it shifts too soon so that's why I shift it. When I don't feel like shifting I just leave it in "D1" unless I hit the highway then it's up to OD. You get more of a launch from the car and a faster response when you shift it yourself... when you just mash on the gas it has a slight delay before it down shifts... that's with all AODs. -JM

I didn't the launch from a dead stop like I'm drag racing... I meant the speed of the down shift when punching the gas... in ANY automatic car old or brand spankin new it's just faster to shift it down and punch it then just mashing the gas. -JM
