car shut down under hard acceleration

i was out for a quick spin around the block in my mustang (carb'd 351w) and i was pretty hard on the gas and as i started to let off the car sputtered and died, like it ran outta gas but now it wont start back up, i know it didnt run outta gas and it still squirts fuel into the carb when i push the throttle, but i dont know why it would shut down like that

My 88 did the same thing on a launch. It was the hot wire going to my coil that came disconnected so no fire.

problem solved, oil pump seized, in turn seizing the distributor, but the cam was still spinning so it broke the pin on the distributor gear
