Check Engine Light

After i rigged my car up so no coolant or anything goes through the heater core the check engine light came on a few hours after. Then today my car is riding rough and vibrates alot. I think i have a broekn motor mount. but what i want to know is now my check engine light is flashing. Does this mean that the car is in need of real attention or the problem is going away for now.so really i just want to know about the check engine light.

Newer mustangs have a onboard diagnostic function built into the odometer..I am not sure if your year does..but try and see...

1. Place key in ignition.
2. Push trip button in and hold in.
3. Turn key to "on" position.
3. You will see the screen flash with your mileage reading and then the word "test"
4. When you see "test" start your car.
5. The screen will now display the reading "gauge"
When it goes to "gauge" you will notice your gauges (i.e. Tach and speedo) will max out and then sweep back.
6. Keep pushing the trip button until you see some codes with P---, these are the error codes that your car is throwing

Here is a link so that you will know what the error code means
Error Codes www.fordscorpio.co.uk/codes.htm

If not just Google it...I hope this helps..good luck

Your CEL may be flashing because it is recieving a misfire from your ignition system. I see it a lot at work. Make sure your spark plugs arent fouled out, misplaced plug wire, bad plug wire, and moisure in the ignition system.

Not unless the shaking motor has caused another problem..IE it caused a wire to come loose...

Most likely ignition misfire, as previously mentioned, unless an injector connector is loose. Water in a spark plug well, from coolant?

I got it checked out and there was water in the 5,6,7,8 spark plugs between the boot and spark plug. after that it runs a little better but it still idles rough. The diagnostics machine gave an error code having to do with the harmonic balancer, but the computer wouldnt let him look it up. I am also getting new spark plug wires today (hopefully), but i dont think this is gonna fix it although it should. Also when the guy cranked it up he siad it sounded like a bent rod.

Huh, let us know what you discover. The water should only have caused a boot prob, as it's external.

Sounds like the coolant got past the spark plug boots just as Jim and Hoss had stated earlier.Did you blow out the spark plug holes real well? Did you replace the plugs?
