Check Engine Light

Something odd has been happening that has me stumped. My check engine light comes on(when I am on the gas) randomly during 2500 rpm and 4000 rpm and it will go out as soon as I let off the gas. I know there are things that can cause the light to come on for short periods of time, but repeatedly and only when I am on the gas? I just changed the oil yesterday and it started last night and has been doing it ever since. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

i would look toward the O2 sensors due to the increased flow during throttle....one may be going bad...

The complaint you have described sounds like an EGR and EVP sensor(on top of EGR).Pretty common to see.

So I went and pulled the codes and it came back as the TPS. I am going to replace it and I had a few questions. Do I need to disconnect the battery? Will the TPS require tuning after its on? Last, I wont burn as much gas now right?

Have you set your TPS voltage since you put on your new t-body. Maybe you don't need to replace it, just need to set it. I would try this first as it means you won't have to buy new parts.

If you have never adjusted your TPS before This article on www.50tech.com explains how to do it.

Can anyone suggest a good digital mutli-meter? I went to radio shack and they had like 10 different ones but none looked liked what I need.

There is a Jack on the driver side of your engine bay near the back that you plug the code reader into.

Not that I remember. If you look at the plugs on the code reader they match up to the plugs on the port.

Yes, just pull the black cover off the plugs and plug them into the scanner.

Now on to my problem

code 13: RPM out of specifaction during normal idle operation or
D.C. motor does not follow dashpot.

What does that mean and what can be done to fix it?

Either your warm idle is too high or too low.
