Chicago Gal movin to Texas

Hi Guys and Gals.

I currently live in the winter hell called Chicago. My god sister moved back from Houston after the hurricane and has talked us all into moving around the Austin area. It would be close to Aug before we head down. Figured I'd join now and get some help from my fellow stangers.

I have a 05 V6 with a few mods. No plans this year. Ultimate plain is to go with an STS under mount turbo.

-Magnaflow Exhaust

-8.8" Rear 4.10:1Ratio w/ABS w/Trac-LocPinion Cobra Flange.
-18' FR500'S Black w/Chrome Lip
-Nitto 235/50/R18
-Eibach Pro-Kit Springs Front: 1.3” Rear: 1.4”
-Visuals: Louvers, Back Window Tint, Front & Back blackouts, Clear corner turnsignal lights, Clear back side bumper lights, 8" shorty, Side stripe removed.
-Custom tune by Bob Kurgan
-Dyno'ed 200HP 225TQ
-Best 1/4 mile prior to rear & tune. 15.255 @ 90.51 (2.339) *Hoping for mid 14's with new setup.


Looking to get some ideas on areas around Austin that are nice to live. Job wise I wouldn't start looking till we get closer to moving. I've been doing international shipping for 10 years but willing to change professions.

Hello! Nice ride!! Ive been told one think to watch out for the sts kit is it's not good for a daily bc of the chance of getting water and debris in the turbo. I've got a 08 sixxer and I'm saving for a hp turbo kit! Just my .02 and welcome!

Hi and thanks. Yeah I read the same thing. Once the turbo is on it wont be a DD like it is now. It's seen snow, shine, rain, and hail. It's almost time for her retirement.

Welcome +1 i was looking at the STS kits and saw a lot of bad reviews on them even on non DD cars. i was gonna get a hellion kit but decided on the saleen instead.

Welcome aboard! I'm sure you'll love Texas once you move down here. There are really nice places in Austin, and areas around to live that are nice, it just depends on what you want. Lots of property, or no backyard, depends on you. Anyway, welcome and you have a nice Stang! I like the color!

North Austin is beautiful, I love living out here. Very hilly and great views. There are deer constantly visiting me in my backyard. Such a great place to live!!

I don't have any "real" sisters just an older brother if that's the way you roll.

Regarding the turbo it's up in the air as I don't know if I've convinced the other half that it's worth it. Not really into cars like I am. I'll just buy plenty of jewlery, electronics, hats and gym shoes to butter 'em up.

I got a text from my god sis yesterday morning saying we should rethink Austin as a nut job just parked his plane into a building. I told her it's ok. I'll deal with that over snow and cold. So we just have to watch out for landing gear on the express way. We have to watch out for car jackers, guns, and hookers here in Chicago. It's a wash!

I've done some searching and found beautiful homes with big yards for rent. I think that's the way we're headed. Get semi-settled and then after a year or two purchase a home. Plus not sure were we'd work. Lisa works for the state and my other half is a corrections officer at the prison. Me on the other hand works in International Shipping but may look into do something different.

I'm getting excited to move even though it's months away. I'm sitting here freezing just thinking how my car is covered under snow right now.

Man o Man. I see you Southerners treat the new girls just like the ones in Chicago. LOL Boys will be boys. I'm a moderator/event coordinator on a Chicago site so I know all about the leg humpers. Most run off the girls in a matter of days.
