dude...300$ (ebay 189.99) or so, and you can get the gears and T-Loc installed...then get a dyno tune/chip burn from CCS or another tuner company 400$ (CCS), add a shift improvement kit, and a few suspension mods, and you will still be under 1000$...don't let people try & talk you out of the mods YOU want, just do them, and make it into a car YOU want to drive bro!!! just my .02 cents,

for mods ya gotta take a rational approach, too, like how many miles you have on the engine/tranny. if you have a lot of miles on them, you might wanna shift the mod money over to the engine and/or tranny before investing elsewhere. sure would hate to see ya spend money on other areas and see the engine or tranny fail (hope I didn't jinx!)

:stupid:
Seriously, John has a great point....have one of the Mechanic folks from LSS take a look at your car, and let them recommend Mods they think the car/engine/tranny can handle...from the list of mods YOU want to do... ![]() |

If I remember correctly: 8.8 = 150 or so gears + install = 250-300 7.5 = -75 and mail order chips are 300 or so... so around 700. if he kept the 7.5 it'd be a few bucks less. and 1k will go a lot longer on the fox than the bang-for-buck ratio on the 6 banger, as tim said. :jeff: however, if you (SAVOLTAGE) are going to sink the money into the 6cyl, go with gears all the way... don't fear the gear! |

Just tap a hole in the intake tube and spray a 150 shot and your done. Running high 14's all day!!!!! w00t!!1 Swap the sparkies for a colder plug. Hook up a switch by the shifter and hit it when you need it. I had a auto 97 v-6 I was playing around with. Hooked up my friends zex dry shot and sprayed a 75 shot without a hitch and just went up from there. No risk involved. Took it to tad and ran 14.7's all day on street radials.

I actually you will need to get a chip with the gears unless you wanna top out at like 80.

Starting with the 99+ models is when you started to hear noise about using a chip or speed cal to calibrate the speedo correctly when upgrading the gears. Unless something has changed with that line of thinking you will need a chip. For models through 98 model year you can use a speedo gear to get things right.
Are the speedo gears different for both 7.5 and 8.8 applications?

i had a 2000 v6 5spd with 4.10s and a speedcal, no problem whatsoever. later i transplanted it to a 2002 model as well.
speedo gears are inside the speedometer, not the rear differential. they adjust the needle manually. |
