Class M anyone??
after talking with a bunch of people. friends and bank peeps. ive decided that when i move out (mid summer is the lastest) ill be buying a newer used R6. My whole family (besides my dad. ie aunts uncles cousins) ride bikes. As some of yall know my uncle is the main investor/owner of the ROT Biker Rally that is held every year in Austin, TX. So it was just a matter of time before i got into the bike thing.
Ive been riding before just not legaly. So sometime between now and then i need to get my Class M. Anyone else looking to do this? Any places yall have used? Any input would be appriciated. As long as its John your going to kill yourself or your an idiot. Ive already heard that enough. for yall wondering im going to get a Charcoal Silver 2003 R6 im doing this bc of a few things. ive always wanted one. they are fast as hell. they are cheap. great gas mileage. good way to build credit. fun hobby. and alot cheaper than a cobra. ![]()

If you've been riding why not just take the test. It's easy and cheaper than a class? Just my .02 but it is what i did.

the reason for doing this class is that no matter how long ya been riding ya still learn sumthin, and also because the last ride of the day is yer DPS riding test and it's alot less stressful to do it with these guys than in frt of the officer following ya around on the street, after ya pass the riding ya jus go to the license office and take the written test and it's over...also it reduces your ins cost too.... and southwest is the same place JR and I took the class at..they were really nice people...

few of my friends have the R6's theyare hot ass bikes and quick as shit...as for me though ive hit a wall at 100mph before and Im not about to do it again...and to date i think i know of maybe 10-15 people who died on them...so probably no bike for me...but hell if you can control it might as well

I know you said you've ridden before but what have you ridden? I've had an R-1 and now I've got my Busa. R-6s are quick as sh*t. What ever you get respect it. Also I'm not sayin don't take a class I was just giving an option. GEEZ. lol someday I'll actually be off and the weather will let me ride again. Good luck and watch out for the cagers.

Take the course for sure. Any of the 600s will be good bikes. Its kinda like asking what color to paint your car. It is all personal opinion. What ever bike you like the looks and the feel of. I have had honda, suzuki, kawasaki, and now I have a Yamaha R1. ( the same one vanillagorrilla had )
Anyway, it is all preference. Like stated above, what ever you decide on, just respect it. The 600s of today are quick and will catch you with your pants down if you're not careful. Good luck and keep the rubber side down. Chris |

I like the feel of the older gsxr's and kawi's. They had some size to them, but pretty much all of the bikes these days feel narrow. It is all part of making the bikes lighter and faster. If those folks will let you ride their bikes, that's the way to go.

I don't want a LARGE Farva...
|
i agree with len. i took the class at SWmotorcycle. it was worth it. the biggest perk is that it'll save you the BS when you go to get your license.
if you show up at the DMV with the ticket saying you completed the course, all you have to do is take the written exam. easy stuff... none of that cop following you in your car stuff... |
