I have been having this same problem with my 1996 Gt SOHC, It seems to be either the intake manifold or the water neck it self I am starting to think that maybe there warped or something. I changed the little O ring gasket ford made which sucks and the theroistat. And for a little while was ok then it started leaking again. So then I was like umm RTV it lol.:jeff:.... but after another two weeks it started again. Its not over heating becuase there not enough leaking yet but it just smell as it burns off the block please Help if any of yall have had the same problem. Thanks Yall

i think ford had a silent recall on this. In 97 or 98 it was a big deal, anyway, they re designed the intake manifold and it had aluminum to make it stronger where the t stat is. Not too sure as i dont own a 96-98, but i have seen lots of threads on it. You might just need a new intake. Do a search on stangnet as i havent seen anything here about this problem. Good luck!:jeff:
