    Cooling Fan

I'm new to the forum and logged this problem in the new user section. Didn't get much response so I wanted to try in the right place. My Daughter has a 99 3.8 v6. We found it in good shape and was dead set on a mustang for her 1st car.
Recently I had all the radiator fluid pumped out at a (getting to be ) buddy of mine that manages a Texaco run shop that does just about any work on all cars. The guy really is sharp. Anyway, he pumped it out completely and added all new fluid. At that point we noticed the fan wasn't coming on at any temp. (My daughter had complained of it getting hot in traffic) He tapped on it a few times and it came on so I'm certain it needs a new one.
I found them at several sights and actually just need the motor.
Does anyone have either one for sale or advice on where to buy ie. (1 reseller over the other)
    Thanks in advance!
    Jorg

Not sure what fan it uses, but if it uses the same fan as the 99-04 GT, I have a good motor in the assembly, you'd just need to swap fan blades because mine is cracked. I'll do some research on it.

EDIT, Advance auto parts shows the v6 fan (620-138) as a different part number than the GT fan (620-139), but the pics look the same. It's $150 from there for the assembly or $92 for just the motor. If you have a "full service auto parts" check there because they had my GT fan for $125 vs. all other parts stores who had it for $180-200.

Sometimes they those online parts places don't show the "actual" picture of the part. It is just a representative picture.

Thanks, what exactly do you mean by "full service auto parts"?

they are definately expensive. you can opt for a used one and check all the salvage yards around you. i think i replaced mine on my 96 for about 35.00(whole assembly) when i needed one. it still works fine after about two years. different salvage yards are going to charge different prices so call ALL of them in your range.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm checking junk yards out now! Please let me know of any other avenues in or around the Austin area.

    Thanks Again,

No luck at all at the junkyards.
Talked to my son who has had (2) Stangs. I knew he had ordered a lot of parts on-line and said he never had a problem at all with "RockAuto". Ordered the assembly and it got here in (1) day with the default shipping (FedEx Ground).
I'm going to R&R tomorrow. Anyone ever done one of these or any model? Looks pretty simple.
    Would appreciate any info!
    Thanks,
    Jorg.

Very simple. Since you ordered the assembly instead of just the motor, it is pretty much 2 screws and a connector and then pull it free.
Glad you found one, I had a guy here in Kyle trying to find one for a 99 also this past week. All I have are 94-98 fans.
