Any mid pipe on our cars are pointless for the most part, its more of a sound thing than anything.
maybe I missed her question but just about all catback exhaust systems are 2.5" tubing. MAC, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Pypes, SLP,

Thanks! We're still calling around to a few places, but I'm definitely glad I asked everyone here for help. I was starting to think we'd have to shell out 600+ dollars for exhaust . I'm pretty excited, and I can't wait for it to be done.

On a different note.. I've been really mad today because I got my tires rotated at jiffy lube, and they scratched up my rims trying to take the center caps off. on ALL FOUR wheels. how stupid can you get. I've got to go back tomorrow morning and talk to their manager, although I doubt they'll reimburse me in any way.

x2. you can even rotate your own tires with just a jack and a spare tire (Even though 2 jacks or jack stands will make it go faster). its simple.

find some flows someone is selling...check craigslist...they always have some. Then go to A&T automotive on hildebrand and get them to make your exhaust for it. I think they charged right around 170-200

wow i didn't even think about that. I guess that's what I get. We're calling Jiffy Lube customer service tomorrow to see if we can get some kind of reimbursement. Haha from now on I don't think I'm even taking my car to get the oil changed there.

I rotate tires and i broke a center cap once on a mitsubishi once, but that's because they pop out inside insted of out and i didn't know that.
You might lose some lowend torque using a 2.5" exhaust, but your power band will be shifted higher into the rpm's because of that. The more you open up your exhaust(no cats, longtubes) the more lowend you will lose.

I think I'll try going with 2.5 and see how it goes from there

so what's the consensus on cats? Keep them or no? and is it legal for emissions and all that? What has everyone else done?

I had no cats on mine however if you want to remain legal you need to keep them. With no cats it makes the car alot louder and deeper with the right muffler combo. I have also seen people get their cats cleared out, so it seems like they are there it someone looks but they are hollowed out. Since SA has no sniff test that would work

You might want to keep them if you do 2.5"...

I don't have any cats, love the sound.

There are alternatives.

PaceSetter Performance 82-2920 - Pacesetter V6 Mustang Kat-Back Adapter Kits - summitracing.com
or this

JEGS 30596 - JEGS Mustang Off-Road H-Pipe Kits - JEGS

JEGS 30590 - JEGS Mustang Off-Road X-Pipes Kits - JEGS

There are other companys that offer basically the same thing.
These all would use a V8 catback Series 40 kit.

the cats are all up to you a lot of people remove them however you won't pass emissions depending on how strict they are but as I said tons of people remove them. 2.5" pipes are a good choice in my opinion and you don't need boost or whatever.

good luck on the mod and let us know how it goes!

Yeah...it doesn't sound TOO bad considering it is a 6er. Here is a small video clip I took of it right after we installed the H-Pipe.
