Cost of Installing True Dual Flowmaster 40's on a V6

Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate on how much it would cost me to take my 04 V6 mustang with stock exhaust and get a shop to install true dual flowmaster 40s on it? Right now its just got the stock exhaust.. I'm just wondering how much to expect when I call shops for estimates.

i had my v6 done like a year ago. it cost be a round 300 to change it to dual exhaust. thats including the mid pipe, 2 flowmaster, 2 chrome tips, and install. I went to rodriquez tire and muffler off of potranco/1604.

You can PM lethal performance, i use to get some work done on my v6 there and they are really good. Takes some time to get in but thats just because of how busy they are since they do such great work.

I paid $350 a few years back. Two Flowmasters, cut the Y pipe, the two exhaust pipes and chrome tips. Had it done at Northwest Automotive Warehouse, 3027 Culebra Rd, San Antonio, (210)432-0571. Never had any problems with the install.

Thanks for the fast reply!!!
If anyone else can think of any good shops in the san antonio area, please let me know. I'm looking for a shop that can do it in the 300-450 price range.. so far I've recieved quotes ranging from 300 dollars to 650 dollars . So please give me any suggestions! Dual exhaust is going to be my birthday present from my parents this year haha so I'm calling around looking for the best deal for them.

to be quite honest Im still learning about all the parts of my car haha. Im learning as I go along, mostly from my boyfriend and some other friends who are into their cars. However, my boyfriend owns a prelude haha so his help on my car can be somewhat limited. I do have a mustang I've been looking at that I'd like mine to sound like.. I think he's got cats?

I think that sounds really good.

Cool, thanks for the input. So what's the difference between the shops telling me theyll charge 300-350, and the shops telling me itll be 600-650? Thats a big price difference haha. Just the difference between small local shops and the big businesses?

I personally would go with an H pipe and a MAC catback. MAC has a great tone to it

Most just mark up their labor or price on parts, especily once you mention a know hot item like Flowmaster or Magnaflow. Make sure you also get you what you pay for. I saw a bait and switch once, the box said flowmaster on it, but what they pulled out didn't look loke a regular Flow. Turned out it was a generic brand called Flow Monster. Make sure you ask lots of questions. Ask them what diameter of pipe they use. I have seen some horrible duals done with waht looked like 1 1/2 in pipe. Will they use factory style moutning hangers or just weld-in solid non rubber cushioned hangers. If the hangers are solidy attached the the frame and body there is a greater chance you will be one of those out on the road with one tailpipe hanging low. Ask what the warranty is. It's easy to take money from some one who doesn't get their facts lined up.

yeah it was true dual all the way back to the chrome tips. it would have been cheaper with stainless steel tips though. They also let me watch while they were doing it. Took about 2 hours to finish.

awesome, thanks everybody. I think I'm going to go with true dual flowmaster 40s, 2.5" 's.... and chrome tips. I'll probably bring my dad and my boyfriend along.. between the two of them and the help im getting from everyone here I think I should be ok. My older brother has a Z28 with a lot of aftermarket stuff on it, so maybe I can have him come along as well. And I'll make sure they let us watch the install too.

Any more information or suggestions anyone can give me would be good. I just want to make sure its done right and everything.

When I got mine at Northwest Automotive I went along with their recommendations. They stated that for a V6, dual 2 1/2 inch pipes were too big and to go with 2 1/4 inch as you need some backpressure. Also did not recommend an H pipe as the V6 firing order did not produce any uneven pressure, but they would install an H pipe if I wanted it. I also bought the right side GT hangers with the rubber bushings from Ford so they didn't install some cheap hangers. They were about $15.

You might have it mixed up. An H pipe is the only midpipe that would make sense if you get rid of the Y. A v6 engine is even firing so therefore putting a X pipe is pointless since an H pipe does not have a cross over it is the correct way to go. Thats weird they would tell you not to get an H and 2.5 is ideal I probably wouldn't go there but I haven't had experience with them of course just by the recommendations I would have second thoughts.

my wife got mine done for Christmas one year for 400. that included flowmaster super 40's and all the pipe necessary with labor. cut the Y and trued it from front to rear. but i'm here in Houston, so that doesn't help you much.

2.5" defiantly isn't ideal, 2.25 is ideal. 2.5" is suggested for boosted applications.
Any mid pipe on our cars are pointless for the most part, its more of a sound thing than anything.
