i ran over a nail. how long does it take to get a plug put in my tire?

it's not on/near the sidewall is it? they won't patch it if it's on the sidewall.

no, it was right on top.

my dad was nice, and took it out, and got it plugged while i was still asleep. but the guy who did must not have known what he was doing, because when i got off work, the tire was at 9 psi. there was a gas station nearby, so i drove there, and filled it up to 40 psi. when i got home, i checked it, and it had leaked down to 21 psi, and i had only driven one mile:2thumbdwn
