Set the spark to 7k, but you have to run at least 93 octane gas!

Set it to 7 on both! I was running 13.9s in an automatic with your same bolt ons minus gears and a predator w/ spark at 7 and the tranny shift points adjusted before I traded it in on the mach! Im running at 7 w/ the spark in the mach also!

i tried setting my spark advance, and im lost at how you say 7k? i went to the screen where it displays both sections for 2-4k and then 4-7k. so i went to each one and you can advance or retard spark by 10 degrees. And im wonderin if you meant 7k to be 7degrees? If so you say i should set both at settings at 7degrees advanced?

for starters, run 93 octane first!
then add 4-5 degrees from 4k-7k and 4 degrees from 2-4. I would put it on a dyno and see if and where you need to add fuel to maximize the gains of your mods and timing.

i'll wait for brian to chime in on what he ran in his GT and Bullit

Brian aka Nighthawk, hasn't posted in a long time. At least I haven't seen any posts.

but yeah, set the spark at 4 from 2-4k then 5 from 4-7k. See if you have any detonation. If not bump the spark up a little. As long as you don't hear any detonation you should be fine. However, getting it on a dyno will tell you if you need a little more fuel also.

i have known guys who blindly ran 7 and 9 degrees and their cars picked up after being told to back it to 4-5

Myself asnd others have seen a general condition where there are improvements as you increase to 5 and nothing after that. not necessarily that there is a loss, but no improvement. You dont want to get a bad tank of gas on a hot day and ping around town or put your car in limp mode running 19 degrees of initial timing

it really depends on what mods you have on the car. a maf can really change stuff, as can some cold airs
