- DIY - Replacing Tail Light Bulb

This is a very easy thing to do as long as you have some patience.

Tools needed:
Pliers
11mm deep socket
wratchet
a soft rag

First, remover the tie nut that holds the inside paneling on. This is where the pliers come in handy. These nuts are on there pretty tight. You might be able to get them off by hand but I had to use the pliers because they had glue on the back and would not turn.

Once the tie nut is off you can pull back the panels. In this pic you see the 3 gold bolts. There's an 11mm nut on each one. Also, in the very bottom of the pic you'll see half of a hole in the back metal panel. There's a 4th bolt in there, I couldn't get all 4 bolts in one pic.

Use the wratchet and 11mm deep socket to remove the nuts on the bolts.

Once the nuts are off use both hands to pull straight back on the tail light. It should come right out. Then lay it back so that you can get to the bulb connectors.

Turn the connectors and they should easily come loose. Some turn to the left and some to the right. If it doesn't want to turn with moderate pressure either way don't force it unless you have to. Then pull the bulb and connector out.

Then just pull the bulb out and pop the new one in. Use the rag for this so you don't get the bulb glass all dirty. Do this for each bulb. Then just reverse the removal procedure and you're done.

One thing to note --- IMPORTANT.

One the drivers side there's a fuel cutoff switch. This cuts off power to the fuel pump if the car is in an accident. If you hit this switch accidently it could cause it to activate and then the car won't start next time you try to start it. So be careful not to hit it with the wratchet or anything hard. If for some reason you do hit it and the car won't start you just need to push the RED button back down and try to start it again. It should start this time.

Here's a pic of the cutoof switch behind the drivers side tail light.

Well, there you go. So if you have a light out don't dread installing a new one.

If you have any questions just ask.
