Drag radial size 245/275

i know what yall are thinkin.... go with the 275 its wider!!!! BUT, i have 8inch rims, and every site that i go to has a recommended fitting of 245 tires to an 8inch. would 275s really be any different than going with a 245 drag radial(nittos, for longevity)

I think the widest I'd go on an 8" rim is a 255, to be honest. I think a 275 would be overkill...and is meant more for a 9" wide rim.

I've seen Terminator's on the 16" "waffle" wheels from the 94-98 Mustangs with DRs run great times, and those are only 7" wide, I believe.

A ton of people put 275/40's on the stock 8" snowflakes and have for a long time. It's not as bad as you think. I'd do it if I still had them on my car. If you go Nitto's then a 275/40 will definitely fit because they run so narrow.

The 245's i had on when i received the wheels where dry rotted, and i could spin those like crazy so i can't really compare the 245's to the 275's But the 275's I personally think work just fine. Personally i think the only reason i'd go with a smaller tire than 275's would be the price.
And since your going with a nitto tire, I'd run a 275. I dont think you shouldn't have a problem

the nittos run very narrow.

you should run a 275 on an 8 inch rim.

I ran 275s on my 8 inch prostar and several pairs of 245s on my 7 inch ponies

and a few pairs 315s on my 10.5.

nittos rock on a daily driver

I run a 275-60-15 on a 10" prostar but could probably use a little wider tire under it .

On my old cobra, I had 275/40 Nitto's on the back, and 245/45's on the front and they all looked like they were the same size from a distance. THAT's how narrow the nitto's run. I would definately go 275.

Here, I found some picks of 275 nitto's I had on an 8" rim.

They're not the best pics, but you can tell they don't look as wide as a regular 275 tire.
