Dual Exhaust on a 6er?

I have a 6er and I am wanting to make the thing louder with a distinctive loud sound. Something that people will know when I am on my way.

My first endavor with this will be changing from my single 6er exhaust to a dual exhaust. Has anyone done this? I found this other website from another mustang club and had no clue if it was really that easy. Any input would be appreciated.

Probably about 90% of V6ers on any Mustang site. It is really easy.
You can use GT take offs or have an exhaust shop make you a custom exhaust with Flowmasters or other louder than GT stock for ~$350.

Make sure you cut the Y pipe and not branch two pipes off of it.

If you are not going to add a power adder (supercharger or turbo) most people go with a 2 1/4" pipes on a V6.

Well, I was offered the GT take-offs already on another site. I think I am going to stick with the GT take-offs and see what it won't do for me for a while.

Any ideas about who to get to cut that Y-Pipe for me?

well, there is a few things you can do. first, iether high flow or no cats will deapen the tone some. headers will help as well. as for dueling it out, i would sugest an x-pipe where the y pipe is and go with flowmaster 40's. i have them and they have a different sound than otehr mufflers on a 6. another way to go though is glass packs. they will have the glass pack pop, but people will hear you from a mile away. one that i just recently found are warlocks.
here is a sound bite of a 95 6 with warlocks.
http://www.mustangexhaust.com/sounds...aders,00V6.mp3

all in all, it comes down to personal taste. check out http://www.3.8mustang.com/ on their forums, they have a sound bytes area some where in the bolt ons section, and knowlegable people who know quite a bit about v6 mustangs.

Why butcher the exhaust? Just buy this x pipe (if you want to stay legal, or the o/r if you dont care about emissions):
http://www.mustangtuning.com/mutucax9v6.html

Here is the o/r:
http://www.mustangtuning.com/mutuofx9v6.html

and buy a catback to match it.

Take it to Mighty Discount Mufflers, these guys are fast n great. tax off if you pay cash, and they're the only shop in town that will touch your cats. Spintech and Flowmasters might be what he's looking for if he wants loud, but don't be dissaspointed when you hear your exhaust because you will never sound like a v8, even with LT headers. What I've done for 230 installed was bring 2 high flow cats, and two mufflers all magnaflow, and told them to make it true dual with a custom fab H pipe. If you got GT take offs, hell, they'll probably make you true dual for 200 or less, and then pay another 50-80 bucks to have them do a custom short ram intake or a full extended cai.

It's cheapest to give a shop core components and then have them custom fab everything else... they only took 1 hour to custom fab an H pipe and do true duals and all that.

Yeah, that's what I got.. 2.5" all the way from the high-flow cats (still got all 4, replaced 2 rear with the magnaflows) and custom fab H pipe. Though, the H-pipe doesn't do jack for my car, it does make it sound deeper and less raspy above 3k or comming down.

drive bye
http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/domestic/mustang6d.htm

on an 05 v6

very nice sound, very 350z like.

dont mut a muscular exhaust on a non muscular engine, Its just a mismatch. Flowmasters sound like poo on any v6 of any make model year. In fact, I would stay away from any chambered muffler

Find a guy with your color car with dumps and see if he wants to trade bumpers. Just look for a GT rolling no tips.
