So the question arises, would it be a dyno day or a dyno tune day? Big difference between a 45 dollar run and a few hundred dollar tune. If not, a dyno is a dyno more or less

the cost will always be dependant on how many people are estimated to show, you know?

besides, even if it is 10$ more or whatever, who cares? you are supporting a good mechanic. you dont just get discounts or anything from anyone just because.. you know? however, enouf4u works there, and i think thats reason enough to spend the few extra bucks, get it done right, and possibly make good relations with a shop who could possibly give us better deals in the future. right?

Dyno tune...they supply a chip and tune your car...ie get more HP...
on the dyno they just check the setup you got..there is not tuneing...

A few weeks back I called Dynotex about dyno tuning the MACH. Was told they cannot flash the FORD comp only GM. Just my .02 I would go back to Mike he dyno'd the 03 prior to its demise and I have no complaints. :music:

I'm not for or against one dyno or another. My main point was that there were alot of statements about "nobody touching my car, but Murillo".

On the other hand, a dyno is a dyno. If one person offers a 10 dollar dyno and another offers a 50 dollar dyno, I'm not going to sell my soul based on reputation when more or less the only thing they are going to touch is strapping the car down.

Which is the point I was making and was then clarified further. If it is a dyno tuning that is being planned I would certainly be more choosy as to who I went with versus a simple dyno run for numbers

Cheers!

I agree Frosty, whichever is cheaper will be what I base my decision on as well........

I would like to know how much power I'm making but it's very hard to let somebody touch my car even though they are only going to strap it down. Let's just say I encounter a problem back in '97, when a small hose clamp was compressed into small pieces inside a cylinder wall after a intake swap. What's sad is that this shop or shops (not saying any names) are still in business. Just be careful who you trust with your car, I don't care how great of a deal they give you.

P.S. I still have my first stock block with a cracked cylinder wall.

i agree^^^

even if it is just a dyno run, what if they screw up the strap down because they are in such a hurry because they are giving you great prices.. then you slide off the dyno and fugg up your car... seems the "cheaper" option just got alot more expensive.

"What if" scenarios are always fun....

Basically, regardless of where it is, plan one up. If the price is decent, I'll show. If the price is not decent, I still might show. At near 40-50 a pop I'd have to say I'd prolly only hit one run though.

Maybe a Dyno Half-Day?

Not that I really have much different from stock to really make a noticable difference...

Hey Guys! Newbie here, one of you guys informed me of this site when I asked a question at www.corral.net I've been checking out your site for a few months, never written in until now. I have been watching this thread like alot of you have (over 500 views), kinda sad that its dying. I've got a few bolt ons on my '95 GT, would like to dyno it before I bolt on the heads and intake sitting in my garage. If I go by myself I'll pay about $50. If we all go together we will pay $10. The shop would be happy to have 30-50 or more of us @ $10 each to run our cars. They might even do it for free to earn our business. We could even bring a grill, cold drinks (beer) and make a day out of it. I don't know who is in charge of this site, or who makes the decisions, but whoever it is LETS DO IT! Make some calls, if you want I'll set it up.

we just had a dyno day in houston recently, and i believe they had about 30 cars out there and it costed them 30$ for 2 pulls. granted, thats not too bad anyways. and i think bringing the pit out there is a bad ass idea! if we do this in the early summer, im down for it... :woot:
