Eating Starters!!!!

ok been threw 5 o'reilly starters keep snapping the ears on the crap cast aluminum how do i fix this on my 5.0???? everything is tight and sitting in the bell housing....some one told me 93 cobra starter would work....but i looked at the wire hook up a lil diffrent 2 wire instead of 1 like i have....need a gooood strong starter, i goes compression too high on my 347, whats a good starter??? im on the 5 starter and i KNOW it will go out soon so let me know....laterz.

TQ/448 at the fly- 501 est. loss 12% to get it to the ground
Made that with a Novi 1000.......getting the Novi 2000 since the 1000 went to crap.....same boost level but hopefully car pull stronger down low in the RPM band with a larger and more efficient blower.

for our circle track cars i used to work on we used special high torque starters... summit or jegs should be able to hook you up w/ something but they do cost more than a reg. off the shelf starter.. and if it's the type w/ the solonoid atatched, yhou'll have to bypass the solonoid.. but that's not hard.. anyway hope this helps

I got my hi-torque mini starter off ebay, from a company out of dallas, works great for me. they have a website seperate from ebay. (Alterstart Systems Inc - ) Alterstart Dallas Texas

this looks like the same thing i bought, on ebay, but i ended up paying about $100 for mine a couple years ago... so either his prices have changed on ebay, or there's another one he sells:

eBay Motors: NEW FORD MUSTANG COUGAR HI TORQUE MINI STARTER 302/351 (item 130050553674 end time Dec-21-06 09:06:28 PST)

You have other problems if your starter housing is breaking.

Thats the one I have. Works great and comes with the instructions to wire it on a pre 92 car.

I have to agree with Dan and Larry, 1 starter I could see being a materials defect.....5 is something different.
