How about that same thing, i've got 36 hours under my belt, and i was wondering what else i could choke down before i head over there...
I need the one for Computer Engineering OR Computer Science. A copy or something would be nice.

you realize you can just go up to campus and go into their offices and ask them for all the info you want. Or call and ask them to send you information.
And if you want a engineering degree without all the math crap... go ENTC!!!

My outfit has converted to an all engineering major outfit this year. All of our freshman (25) are engineers or tech majors of some sort, so I'll ask them to get online and help. They've only been here for one semester.

It is an Engineering Degree with more hands-on experience than classic Engineering. All our classes (well most) have labs and you get to get your hands dirty and not talk so much theory. If you are a visual learner or someone that learns by doing things, then ENTC is a better choice for you.

Hello everyone this is my first post on this board, I thought I could chime in here...
Casper go here and you can find what you are looking for.... http://www.tamu.edu/admissions/ucat/index.php if you have any more questions get a hold of me, snider@neo.tamu.edu , I will be graduating next semester with a degree in Civil Engineering... As for as ENTC (Engineering Technologies) is concerned, not to be knocking you major or anything aggiedj02, it is not really the way to go if you want into the engineering feild. However, as I understand it is a great feild to go into right now, or at least there is a big job market. Last edited by -=Rio-GTS=-; 11-16-2003 at 04:32 PM. |

Don't really feel the need to justify my major to you. But I'll let you know how my maor goes seeing as I graduate this semester. I have a job lined up tdoing sys admin work and software development here in town... but that isn't engineering I guess ![]()

Aggiedj02 like I said I wasn't bashing your major. He said he was wanting to go into Structural engineering I just wanted to let him know ENTC is not the direction he wants to go then. As for software development I don't call that engineering.
Again not to bash your major just a few facts..... With a degree in ENTC you will not ever be put in the position to make any kind of decisions with a liability. Meaning you will more than likely always have some one working over you. The major is not ABET accredited and you can not become a licensed engineer with a ENTC degree. It is however, an easy major and you will come out of school making decent money... |

http://etidweb.tamu.edu/whatis-history.htm go here to read more. You are correct though, it is not a good choice for structural engineering. But yes I can become a licensed engineer with my degree. I am in the same Dwight D. Look College of Engineering you are... just under a different degree program. I can get a PE if I wanted to after this. Quote:
And unless you own your own company... you WILL always have a boss. As a civil engineer you will have to meet codes set by the city, state, your vendor, whoever. These people pay you... they hold power. You are in a very CONTRACT oriented field. These contracts will not allow you to make decisions... they will hold you to pre-concieved ideas and specs. Quote:

Just because some people don't work with blocks and stones and metal fab work doesn't mean they are engineers. Circuit design IS engineering. My building blocks are 1's and 0's... doesn't make me any less of an engineer!!! By the way... I hope you come to the meeting. I enjoy discussions like these. We can continue them there.

Hey I guess I learn something everyday, I was just going on what I've been told. I really didn't think you could become a licensed engineer with an ENTC degree. As for the major being easy I realize that any degree from A&M takes some work, but I've known people who dropped out of engineering and went into ID and they said it was a joke compared to engineering. I've always thought of the ENTC program as a different college also. As far as programming goes I don't don't consider it engineering, however circuit design yes that is engineering I took a circuits class and it was horrible. We'll have to get together and talk about our curriculums. I'm interested in what kind of classes you have had.
