Et. streets matched with stock rearend
Well here goes my dilemna guys....im dying to to go to the track, since last time i had bad wheelhop and 60fts were 2.03s on nitto dr's. Well since then i finally got my upper and lower CA's installed and bought some ET streets. But im scared of snappin an axle
Im thinkin of doin a 3k-4k holehot, not higher than that. Would i break anything?? Im buyin some 4.10 gears and 28 spline moser axles today. I know they're still 28pliners but how better off would be with these than my stockers?? Should i wait for track till thats installed?? Thanx for the input![]()

I would think you could break a stock axle with a launch like that. It would depend how good the et streets hook.
If your getting the axles and gears I would wait until you have that installed before hitting the track. Those mosers should hold up to the abuse. |

What type of car are you talking about and what type of mods?

The car is still street driven, with a best of 10.21 at 131 mph with a 1.51 60' spinning lightly. With this combo it made a best of 460 hp and 410 lbs of torque at the wheels. |

Look at it this way, a whole lot of Mach's were snapping the 28 splines with Dr's & slicks with almost no other mods. If I were you I'd wouldn't put the ET's on until you have some 31 splines in there. However, if you have a daily driver other than the Stang, go for it, at least that way if an axle snaps you would still have a DD.

Box Foxes Rule!!!

The Mosers wil be approx. 30-35 percent stronger than the stock axles.
I ran 28 spline aftermarket axles for 2 years with no problems running high 11s.

Dont waste your money on 28 spline, your going to want to change them out for a more stoute piece later if you plan on future mods. The way i see it is why do the same mod twice, if money is an issue just be pacient and wait untill you have it all together. Do it right the first time and be done with it.

I wouldn't buy 28 spline axles either but since you have them , use them . They are stronger than stock and I know of guys running 10's on them . They are lighter than you so I'd say mid 11's should be safe which you are no where near that right now anyways .

from wmy experience, you are probably worse off launching from 4k and bogging. stock axles dont like a hard bog over and over. If you leave at 4k thats exactly what you are going to do... bog very hard to about 2-2500 and then cut a 1.9 because your car has no real power. Roots blown cars can leave like this and still put down 1.7s, not you.
I say rip it at 5600 and go. Why take advice and opinions form people who have never even run their mustang at the track with stock axles on slicks? Does that make since? If you break it, fix it. If you have the parts at home, that is your insurance and free pass to do whatever you want. FYI, my friend with another 95 always ran on moser 28s with diff. He had a S trim blown 331 and ran 11.1s at 126 with 1.5 60"s he was pulling the chrome cobra Rs off the ground . Quote:

oh yes, have your axle tubes welded when you add other parts. Also have your torque boxes reinforced.I saw someone who was making them on here. the parts you have and this will make for fun and consistant launches for years to come.

you can launch at 5k and still bog. Its all about style and throttle application. If you just hold it at 5k and then drop the clutch, you are going to bog. it is about applying enough throttle once the clutch is engaging that it doesnt fall below peak torque.
Now if you are leaving off a 2 step limiter at 6k.... that is going to be a hard hit on the rear. just as iff you were flooring it as you drop the clutch. Preload the driveline by inching into the the light beams with the clutch as apposed to just rolling and breaking. This is "preloading" your driveline. my "1.80" 60 on dot slicks came from a 5500 launch. There wasnt much tread left at that point so they would spin and scratch for dear life. It was actually a much harder and better launch than the 1.7s and 1.8s on nittos. i would run a 1.80 on the dot slicks with a hard launch and the same on nittos. My slick pass would be a 12.8-12.9 and my nitto pass would be a 13.1 at best. On paper it looked bad. If you saw the car leave... it was a different story.
