exhaust noise limits?

does anyone know if san antonio or all of texas has an exhaust noise limit? if anyone knows how would i be able to test it to make sure im with in these limits if such exist. im currently running bbk long tubes and o/r x pipe and a ford racing cat back. i would appericate any help

Not sure but I have flows cut about 3in after the muffler and it's loud as shit and I don't get any trouble.......

As long as you have mufflers of some sort and the exhaust exits behind the passenger compartment you'll be ok.

If DPS gets ahold of you it wont be fine. If it is loud they can check your exhaust and if you ar missing cats then you can get a citation.

Mine has the hi flow bbk xpipe.....but cut flows after the muffler and loud as hell..........I can't wait to get rid of them.....lol

i was thinkin about cuttin behind my flows... but i have a catted mac hpipe with flowmaster 40's, u think itll be loud like urs?

i've never heard of anybody getting any ish* from the law cause of loud exhaust here in texas.
But i know where the worry comes from, in Cali if your heard w/ a 40 series cops get on your ass.

Having been stopped by SAPD for no other reason than the officer said my car was loud. I asked if there was a DB limit ans is NO. It is an intrerpertation deal. this has happened 3x. 2x officer looked under car saw cats/muflers and let me go on my way. 3rd jerk issued me a citation for excessive noise.
Having just passed insp a wk b4 I went back to the shop and he wrote me up a ticket saying my car had cats/muffs and all items reqd to pass state insp. Took it to the court and ticket was dismissed.

So in a nut shell there is no noise "limit" but if you get an ass or he is having a bad day you can get cited. And if no cats you WILL get a ticket.

im currently running bbk long tubes bbk o/r x pipe 2.5 tube and ford racing m55 cat back, 2.5 in and 3 out, on my 03 cobra. its nasty loud even for me. my 04 gt had bassini o/r x pipe and 40's mufflers i thought that was loud. nothing compares. thanks alot everyone i guess it would be a good idea to install some cats just in case.
