exhaust on a 99+ v6

what exhaust setup will sound good on a 99+ v6?

any suggestions?

jeff has just GT takeoffs with flowmasters i believe, and it sounds pretty nice. :jeff: ALMOST like a v8 (until it gets to the upper rpms)

i havent heard jeff's in a while, but timmy's sounds good. it's not loud, but it has a deeper more mellow tone.

I have the pacesetter H pipe adapter and GT takeoffs, Waiting on the Flowmaster 40's and we shall see...

'oh yeah joe btw you dont need any bigger than 2 1/4 Inch piping because the V-6 needs backpressure in order to make power. Joe have you heard my exhuast? if you havn't i'll let you listen to it friday

The 3" would be way to big for your 6's. They came with 2 1/4 I believe. Tim is right about the 6's needing backpressure to have optimal power. If your H-pipe is 2 1/2 I would stay with that size all the way back.

Or 2 more cylinders would take care of the problem. :redrum: :blkvnm:

and Dan your right stock piping is 2 1/4 dont forget joe you need to have an X or H pipe fabbed up or get an adapter. the total cost for my exhuast was as follows

GT takeoffs~Free(thanks again to Jason10mm)
H-pipe adapter~90 at my door
Install(rented lift bay and had a few welds)~20
Flowmasters~120 installed
Lunch for the guys that helped(01Z28, MustangGTbecker)~20

Grand total~250 For everything installed with true dual exhaust

And i'm thinking about getting some Summit racing tips for 50 once i get some funds

jeff had it for quite a while. doesnt really look all that bad on a black stang. can barely notice it actually...

yeah black rear bumpers are fairly easy to find unlike DSG, however if i could ever get to houston i could get one

i agree entirely!

i would rather drive around with a gt bumper and a single tailpipe temporarily, than driving around with the exhaust sticking out of the bottom of the bumper.

They make x pipes that bolt on to the V6. I ran the x with flows and loved the sound.
