headers with no mid? is that what you mean? right now i have the stock headers on it and dualled straight back with flow 40's on it. no connecting mid pipe.

basically what he means is run it with the LT's then just have straight pipes to your mufflers. with no like connecting H. But i would just say ur gonna like the way it sounds with the H.

haha ooooo yeah. you wil fall in love with those LT's, well after the install is done.. if you do it yourself, lets just say its a nice fun agrivating day. but its well worth it when its done

so now i have the option of LT with no mid? AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

i know it's a personal preference, but how much difference is the sound with and without mid pipe with the LT?

I'm trying to see how to compare this for you....

Fictional Numbers:
Lets say with a mid pipe its 99decibles
Then without a mid pipe its 109decibles

Then

Long tubes with a mid pipe would be 111decibles
Long tubes without a mid pipes would be 121decibles

i see. i only have 2 i believe. correct me if i'm wrong, but a 6 only has two. at least from what i've seen on mine. i will have to look into that. i want that deeper rumble with a volume that's not too overpowering.

shit. okay, i've seen what you are talking about. i didn't realize they were cats. bitch. so i guess from the fictional numbers that were posted, there isn't a great difference in the decibel level. but how will i install LT's with 4 cats?

well trust me you wont want to keep all 4 of those cats with the LT's, u'll want to prob just buy 2 high flow cats, which yes are pretty expensive.

you cant install lt's with the midpipes you have right now (divorced or not) stock headers are called shorty's because they are just that. they are short. they come right off the engine and gather and attach to the midpipe within a foot of leaving the engine (more or less)

longtubes on the other hand, come off the engine and the separate pipes (from each of the cylinders on each side) dont collect until 2.5 or 3 ft off the engine. the collector ends up under the car like this:



so in order to install lt's you will need shorty midpipe (or modify--cut--your current midpipe) which is why we said lt's and an o/r H. the o/r H would have to be specifically for lt's because it has to be shorter than normal midpipes since the lt's extend alot farther than stock shorty headers.

SO, you will either have to cut your stock cats out and then you can use the rest of your midpipe (and weld the flanges on to connect to your lt's) or you can get a new midpipe (a shorty midpipe for lt's) and get highflow cats for it (or just delete the cats all together)

make more sense now?

yes. LT's with either o/r H or catted H. but no shorty's cause they suck and won't give me the sound i want. or LT's with the current mid but delete either two or all of the cats. right?

yes exactly. and if you leave the current midpipe you will have to cut all of the cats out of it. if you want cats with LT's, they have to be aftermarket as the stock ones wont fit.

shorts suck because they are a waste of money. the stock shorty headers flow pretty well for our cars and the aftermarket shorties dont flow much better if any at all. well im sure they flow a little better, but you wont really see gains for the money your putting in and you dont need better flowing shorties for the power that we have when our stock shorties already flow very well.

so basically aftermarket shorty headers are just a waste of money.
