Exhaust question

If this is a repost, shoot me. I'm too lazy to search for an hour to find out.

As you may know, I have a 03 v6. I need to know which route is best for a midpipe, X or H? catted or not? i want it somewhat loud but not stupid sounding. right now, at idle, it sounds similar to a GT. at WOP, it's a little raspy but not bad. I just want it louder and, if possible, less raspy at WOP. give me your choice and opinions. but remember, no one is right or wrong. so no bitching at each other in my thread.

a v6 engine is an even firing engine so therefore don't get an X. Either get an H pipe or run straight pipes from the headers to the mufflers (with no crossover). Without cats its typically louder and you fail emissions depending on your state. I don't know what Texas tests since I don't live there yet. At WOP it will never sound like a GT because its missing 2 cylinders . But yeah X = more rasp, H= more muscle car sound. Do a couple searches in youtube and you will probably find what you want

I would go with an H pipe then. Are you planning on keeping the flows or are you switching that as well? I'm not a real big fan of flows but I do like the sound of cars with a full mac exhaust system. Nice deep tone.

EDIT: and nice I'm looking forward to those emissions tests haha

ooooo ok well then the shop took off the first 2. And i would say if you wanna make your car sound really good, go LT's o/r H and then your 40's.
O and DAVE04MUSTANG mac exhaust doesnt sound really good on v6's, sounds good on GT for sure

I have straight pipes to Magnaflows. I also still have four cats. It sounds good, for a six. Your six will never sound like a GT on the budget that you are proposing.

honestly, i'm not wanting it to sound like a GT. i just want it to be louder and deeper. andthe only budget that i am on is instead of putting it all together at once, it piece it together one by one. i have the cat backs already. i was thinking of doing the o/r H mid next. and if needed, for my taste, then i go with the LT.

well no offense but this way starts to get sketchy, since if u buy an o/r H u will buy it for shorty headers. well when/if you get LT's your gonna have to buy a new o/r H or you will have to get the shop to fab you up something. and for me i just saved up and did it all at once and i love the sound. and i did it all myself, with some friends help (greg), because i hated most of what the shops wanted to do. since they want to weld everything together, such as the pipes, which is a pain if you ever have to drop the tranny for clutch or what ever

do i need the LT headers? if so, i can get those and have one of my techs fab me an H pipe like i had originally planned. i'm not trying to sound difficult or stupid, but i'm not Ford savvy. ask about an Acura, i can probably help you. so i guess my question is is which one is more beneficial? H pipe or LT? or should i just shut up and do both but get an o/r H?

hahahaha sorry i just have to give a little laugh. and no you dont sound stupid, u just want what best for your car. Well in your case i dont really know which is more beneficial, just because if you do LT's ur gonna have to do something with the mid pipe. so if u get rid of the cats then it will sound really good. if you just get an o/r H it will also make it sound really good since the are no cats. so either way it will sound better but if you go LT's route u will make a little better sound and power.

on a six... def get an H pipe and back it with flows.
this will deepen the sound and not rasp out on you.
If you can get the headers, that will improve the sound a ton as well as performance.
stay away from x pipe's and shortys

Great! you both answered my questions. thank you. my second question that wasn't even asked was about the shortys. but now i know. so i guess i will go with the LT's and o/r H pipe. and of course the MIL eliminators. but it plan on keeping my cats. probably in the attic though.
