+1 if you want muscle car sound you need the 2 cylinder swap. No matter what you do to the car heads/cams/ w.e you will always hear the high pitch squeel of the v6 when you rev.

depends on the money you want to spend, you can do longtubes, o/r h pipe to flows, BUT that will just sound like a beffy v6, no matter what you do itll never sound like a v8 so dont make that comparison lol

First off, don't listen to any of the guys telling you to get a v8.

If you want the best sounding v6 you can get, first you need to get longtubes, h pipe (o/r or with high flow cats) and flowmaster 40 series mufflers. this is generally the best sounding setup for the v6. I dont know if this setup will work with side exhaust, but this is the best sounding v6 exhaust you can get. If you want to make it sound any better, you will need a new cam, ported heads, and ported intakes (or at least a new cam- the others are supporting mods).

Right now, I have longtubes, o/r Y, and flowmaster super 40's. It sounds pretty much the same as having an o/r H (my roommate has an o/r and it sounds basically the same).

here's a video of my car when i had h/c/i

and here's the video as it stands now with no h/c/i-

+1, like i said, longtubes, o/r and flows, i wouldnt do side exit tho, i would dump them before the axle if you dont want tail pipes.

I'd say go with some 2 chamber flows, or even 1 chamber flows, but I'd say the 2 chambers would be better. To the side or straight out the back. I can only say this from listening to a friends V6. Tom's car sounds really good, and it sounds better live.

what do yall think about this exhaust set up for a 98 v6?

stock headers, cutouts, only the back 2 cats, 3" or 2 1/2" pipe TRUE DUAL (no crossover), dual thrush welded mufflers (either side exit or dumped)

let me know what yall think

Pipes are too big you need a cross over pipe to eqaulize the flow and it would sound like a old dump truck

+1, i would do orginal 40 series again if i bought new mufflers or find a good used set. take them all they out the back, having them dumped could drone to much or even have your car smelling like fumes if you go with a off road set up

If you want any decent sound from your v6 then you are going to have to cam it. longtube headders and a O/R x pipe would help after that. And stay away from mac muflers.

Thanks I'm pretty happy with how mine turned out. Just needs a little more tuning now.

As for crossover pipes I think that it buzzes/drones more without one, I would get a H or X for sure.

alright, i went with 3in from the stock cats to the mufflers, no cross over, 2 thrush welded mufflers dumped, it doesnt sound too bad but does get a little to ricey for my taste. my friend said i should get some magnaflows or flowmasters...

what do yall think magnaflow of flowmaster? and what "series"?

Jesus christ!? 3 inch piping!? Why didn't you just stay with the stock 2.25?

Flowmaster 40's = Thrust welded series. I think the diameter of the piping is fucking you on this one. Mine doesn't sound like rice at all.

the idle sounds fine, up to about 2000 rpms then it gets a little ricey, i'm thinking of going to get a h welded in, think that would help? i also plan on getting tail pipes but the guy wanted too much to do it so i just had him dump it, would tail pipes help too?

Tail pipes won't change the tone, just the volume. You need to go back down to 2.25'' piping. Not even Cobras use 3''. That's MASSIVE for a tiny N/A V6 with dual exhaust

    Flow Master

I have a 2010 V-6 and I installed a Single Flow Master. I get a pretty decent throaty sound out of it. I agree you will never get the throaty V-8 but is sounds good!
