Favre seeks unconditional release from Packers

ESPN - Favre seeks unconditional release from Packers, sources say - NFL

I knew he wouldn't stay away from the game for long. He still has a good couple years left in his tank.

I think his tank is on "E"!!! Maybe he needs to work a few more years to be able to afford to retire since he is going to be living in an assisted living facility from all those hits and sacks he has taken over the years!!

I believe he has at LEAST 2 good seasons left. Only time will tell. All I know is he is a player. The day his father passed and then went on monday night football and threw for 4 td's, shit gave me goosebumps. I hope he goes to a contender and does well his last seasons.

i think farve had such a goos season last yr because he had convinced himself it WAS his last. But when he saw how good he played, he wants to get some more... but i think hes pushing his luck and needs to go out with a bang like he did...and not screw it up

I've got doubts about him doing good with any other team... Especially given his age and he won't have any experience with anyone else's offense.

Do you think anyone is going to try to pick him up considering his age and closeness to retirement. I mean they would build the whole offense around him, and then he is still going to retire in just a few years?? Why invest in him then? Even if he does have the ability to still play....which I personally would doubt!

i know alot of teams that will pick him up..the quarterback position is so weak right now in the NFL there are a ton of teams that could use him for a couple of years. And to mentor upcoming quarterback....Falcons, Bears, Vikings, Cheifs, Jets....just to same name a few off the top of my head

I just fail to see the logic in investing in someone who openly talks about only being around a few more years versus a younger talent who will stick with you for a longer period of time and in turn bring in more money (long term speaking)....I guess that is why football is run mostly by men though!!

thats the problem there isnt much young talent right now...your right it does make ALOT more sense to bring in youth, but there is not alot of quality quarterbacks right now

They just haven't seen me.......hehe......just kidding!! That makes sense though. I do not keep up with college or high school draft candidates, so I wouldn't know what was out there...just assumed there was talent out and about with how competitive high school and college ball are these days.

There are teams that are in the rebuilding stage that DO need to invest in young talent to build for the future...

but then there are teams that are just looking for that one last piece of the SuperBowl puzzle, and most of the time that one piece is the Quarterback. Chicago, Minnesota, Baltimore, and Tampa Bay are those type of teams... and Brett Favre would do them good for a few years.

Don't forget about money. Any team that signs him will most likely sell out every game home and away no matter who it is. Pay favre 2 million to play this season make 30 million in revenue sales ( jerseys, tickets, etc) on a future hall of famer on the team.

My oldest son thinks he will go to the Falcons . Personally I think he should have stayed in Green Bay or retire .

I think alot of them retire and start playing the "what if" game in their heads. He would be freakin weird as hell to see him in a different jersey. Like Montana with the Cheifs weird.

Everyone says he should go back to where he started but he enver even played in ATL. Just a back up forever. I think he should stay retired. I don't want to see an ex awesome player try to play and then just look horrible. ie Micheal Jordan. Best player of all time but tried to come back with the wizards and wasn't horrible but def wasn't helping much.
