firstlady, truebluvenom, or anyone else that knows... i need to find a running store!
i need to ditch these adidas shoes and get fitted for some GOOD shoes at a real shop... buying stuff from academy isn't going to cut it.
i'm told that i need to have my form, running style, and other stuff examined and then get fitted for some shoes that fit me. any ideas where to go? |

The last time I hit a running store was in Austin at Run Tex (www.runtex.com). Unfortunately, they are only in Austin - no lother locations.
Here are a couple of SA shops (never been to them): I have seen Roger Soler's Sports as sponsors of a lot of local running events (5k runs, etc). Soler's Sports There's a running shop at Stone Oak called Run.Gear.Run. - Store and training locations in San Antonio, Texas (TX) |

There are two places in Alamo Heights: one right off of Broadway, good but not the best; the other, Runners World (I believe) is awesome, all of the workers are cross country and track runners, they can look at your foot and your old shoes and see everything about how you run...great store! My SSG always goes there becuase he "over pronates" or something like that and needs specific shoes...
Having the right shoes really can make a difference...when I was on active duty still I bought some bada** NBs and shaved almost 45 secs off of my two mile time, may have been mental...but who knows

Personally, I wear Asics, because I have a very high arch in my foot, as well as knee problems that require a little extra support. Here is their website, and they can be purchased at any footwear store, you would HAVE to buy the most expensive ones though to get the full effect of them when running. ASICS U.S.A. Web Site Hope that helps. Best thing to do really is to talk to a professional who can help you address your specific needs. |

isn't there a place called Fleet Feet somewhere in SA too? any running specific store is going to be a bit pricey compared to say online stores and such. but if they're going to analyze your foot to fit you properly, ya might as well support the locals.

True - go to one this first time and have them teach you what shoe is best for you. Then in the future you can shop around for the best price.

Asics or new balance
they're both top of the line there's a new balance outlet in the forum but for asics you'd be best off gettin some at Academy. and depending on the academy you go to, most of the retards there don't know what the hell they're doing. Only my store has people that really know what shoes are most fitting. I get stupid ass questions from the employees at other stores and I've gotta be like look at the display it says right on it that they don't do that or come in that size etc etc.

i eneded up going to run. gear. run over in stone oak. my second stop would've been alamo heights, but the first place had what i needed.
i tried on several different brands, and new balance felt the best. i tried them out on the treadmill they had there. ![]() |
