Fishing Spots?

Taking the rugrats fishing this weekend.

Anyone know of any decent parks on Canyon Lake or anywhere else to fish from shore where the kids would have fun when they got bored after staring at a bobber for 20 minutes?

gaudalupe state park of of 46. if you go down to the river and walk along the shore for about half a mile you can find a lot of secluded little spots to fish from. there's lots of roots and stuff for them to climb on, or if you fish closer to the swimming area, there's a playground up above(of course you'd want the wife or someone there to watch them since it would be out of your sight).

i can't really vouch for how well the fishing is, though. dad still goes down there every few weeks or so, but i don't think he catches much...

If you want to catch fish in the San Antonio area I'd suggest going to Calavaras Lake.

Canyon and Calaveras are two places I would NOT want to be on the 4th of July weekend...

We fished Canyon early Saturday morning, and all but got ran off the lake by 11am by pleasure boaters and jet skis. We were fishing in the kayaks.

Caught a few nice bass, a lot of bluegill and a few white bass.

Comal Park is probably your best bet at Canyon...but I'm probably too late. It will be WAY too crowded though..

We ended up going below the dam in the spillway. Didn't see anything at all, then we went up to the Ft Sam docks just to mess around while the kids got to splash and 1 Crappie later we called it a day.

I think the next time we go we'll be renting the Bass Boats from Randolph for the day.

Nah...

The texas coast will do just fine. Be sure you think twice before getting in the water in Corpus. This was caught right off the beach, along with all of the others at the link provided.

Pics of that shark have me missing all my Hawaii fishing trips.

www.live-bait.com

If you go to the photo album for Summer 2004, almost all the way down there are pictures of my going away fishing trip.

Blue Marlin 350, 200, and 150 pounders.

I'm suddenly wanting to book another trip.
