flipping a shock??? (315's)

I went to Discount tires today to pick up my 10.5 bullitts and 315's. The guy tells me that in order for the tires to fit that i have to roll the fender and flip the shock, so that the skinny part of the shock in on the bottom and the fatter part on top (this information would have been useful at the time i originally place my order). Has anyone heard of this before? How easy/difficult is it to flip?

i think that's bogus. rolling the fender i can understand, but flipping the shock sounds arbitrary. have you tried mounting them on the car yet? if not, i'd try it out first and see if there's any rubbing.

Would have been easier to measure the backspacing you needed b4 you ordered. Never heard of flipping the shock over however.

Thanks for the quick replies. Rolling the fender is understandable, I was just caught off-guard when the guy told me to flip the shock. My friend is gonna roll the fender tonight and check on the fit. Rey

I think there talking about flipping the quad shock. I had to do that to run 275/60/15's on my 88 and it is the setup in the rear as yours. The vertical shock should be nowhere in the way.

You mean that the VERTICAL shock shouldn't be nowhere near in the way. But the quad shock might be. Or did I read that wrong.

Shiet, I meant the vertical shock. I will go back and edit that. OOPS... :jmg680:

Yes, the quad shock (the horizontal one ) can be in the way and you can flip it or remove them all together if you have aftermarket control arms to clear larger wheels and tires.

just remember, just becuse everything clears when it is sitting, doesnt mean it clears while driving.

the rear sways back and forwarth with our stock control arms quite badly. and it will also sway into a quad shock. look for wear there. mine also has made contact with the ebrake cable bracketon the a arm, but your axle is longer than mine being a 99+
