Well I have a 2000gt also and I have a mac ORH-pipe and SSS catback and I think is sounds good has a deep tone. You can go with the flows and if you dont like how they sound with stock H than buy a ORH or ORX with flows. Keep looking on here or other forums to see if anyone is selling any mid pipes u can find some good deals I bought my ORH for 80. Maybe on day if u come out to biffs u can see what others have and sound.

When I bought my 02', it had a MAC offroad H and flowmaster catback. I loved the way it sounded. I now have Kook's L/T's and catted X in front of it, and I'm not really a fan of how it sounds. It's quieter, the X has less rumble, and I think it's also due to the cats being on now. I think you'll like the sound of an offroad H if you choose that route. With cats and L/T's... I think a different exhaust is definitely in order. I'm looking into getting a Bassani or Borla setup sometime in the next 6 months or so. Hope this helps!

when i had my 2000, i LOVED how it sounded. it had a custom made O/R H-pipe with 2 chamber flows. sounded almost like a 5.0. anyway, if you wanted to do it the ghetto way, you could have all 4 cats cut out and weld pipe in its place. it would sound good, but throw a check engine light. (unless you had MIL eliminators or a tuner to turn off your 02 sensors.)

Yeah, as I said, the Flows sound great with the O/R H, but now I need something different. I say go with the O/R H for now, and then you can always sell it if you switch to longtubes.

If you want loud go with a MAC Pro Chamber and long tube headers. I had the MAC Pro Chamber, MAC cat-back and stock manifolds on my 2000 GT(long gone) and it sounded really good and loud. It actually became too loud to me and I switched to a Bassani X with High Flow Cats much quieter. I have Bassani equal length headers, SS bassani X, and SS Bassani Cat back on my 03 Cobra now, and at idle or normal acceleration it is not too loud, but at WOT it is really loud.

how did you do that? i have been thinking of heading down that same path and was wondering how i could keep the sensors on. of course i would be fabricating an H pipe for mine since it is divorced right now and it's a 6. did you just tap the pipes to the threading of the sensors?

when i had the custom made h-pipe for my 2000, they made it by cutting the stock one right behind the exhaust manifold and right infront of the mufflers. when the new one was welded in place, they cut the stock 02 bungs out and welded them in the o/r one in the same locations.

thats true...i think the reason why many people who have long tubes,x or h pipe get chamber mufflers to avoid any or less rasp....
