Flywheel Specs

I was given a fidanza(older style) steel flywheel, but isn't sure if its a 28oz or 50oz. Here is the part number stamped on the flywheel, any help would be appreciated

RPW-163021
MEET SFI 1 1 Specification (I know what this means)
SFI NO. D065951

Then at bottom of flywheel is marked with a sharpie 10426

If the weight is pretty big , its a 50oz . If its smaller , its the 28oz .

Post a picture of the back of the flywheel .

The amount of weight required to balance the crankshaft . Ford used a 28oz balancer / flywheel on 302's until 1981 and then went to a lighter crank shaft which required more weight to balance it .

351W are all 28oz balance unless you have them zero balanced .

AHHHHH ok thanks. learn something new everyday. i always thought those weights ment the physical weight of the flywheel. now that i know that i feel a little stupid haha.. even with a lightweight flywheel those weights would be pretty light lol

interesting!! I have always wondered what these weights ment, as I have been looking for an OEM replacement flywheel for my 2000 GT. What specs should I look for when looking for the flywheel, and I am in no way interested in a lightened flywheel, just a stock replacement. the car has a t45 tranny

I think the 4.6 engines are zero balanced but not 100% sure . I know they have a 6 or 8 bolt crank but think the balance was always the same . I am not a mod motor fan .

PRW
PRW1630201 - PRW Billet Steel Flywheel - Ford 289-351W, 157 Tooth, 28 Oz. External Balance - PRW1630201

Its a PRW (performance racing warehouse) flywheel. I called manufacture to confirm the markings and its a 28oz flywheel. Damn I needed a 50oz.

Just for references sake, lots of websites do this and
it will mess you up.

They say this is nuetral(0) balance.
PRW1630200 - PRW Billet Steel Flywheel - Ford 289-351W, 157 Tooth, Internal Balance - PRW1630200

They say this is 28 oz
PRW1630201 - PRW Billet Steel Flywheel - Ford 289-351W, 157 Tooth, 28 Oz. External Balance - PRW1630201

And they say this is a 50 oz
PRW1630202 - PRW Billet Steel Flywheel - Ford 289-351W, 157 Tooth, 50 Oz. External Balance - PRW1630202

All are the same.(50 oz balance)
I believe the one in the pic you posted is a 50 oz.

By the part number you posted but not the one in the pic
yours is a 28oz(early)balance.
