Fox guage wiring help!?

Hey guys, I am in need of some help. I can not seem to find a wiring pinout for the guage cluster for my 84 fox convertible. I have purchased both the Haynes and the Chilton manuals and neither of them show the correct pinout for all the guages. I have a complete set of after market guages in a new custom bezel ready to go in. I did a quick search of this forum and it came up empty, if anyone has anything that will help I would greatly appreciate it.

I was in sort of the same spot with my 86' LX, the guy I bought it from cut the original connectors off and I had to track the wires down. Now I cant tell you if the wiring is the exact same between 84' and 86', but this is what I found out.

There are some parts of the gauge pod that have two wires going to them besides the ground on the two connectors that go to the gauge cluster and I cant tell you exactly what each of those wires go to, but here are the best of my efforts for all of the wires out of the connectors on the back of my 86' LX gauge cluster.

Connector that has the most wires coming out of it sets in between the tach and speedo;
Light Green w/White - Left Blinker Indicator
Light Green w/Black - High Beams Indicator
Dark Green w/Light Green - Fasten Seat Belt Light
Red w/Yellow - Tachometer Power
Dark Green w/Yellow - Tachometer Coil Lead
Black - Ground
White w/Light Blue - Right Blinker Indicator
Light Blue w/ Red - Dash Lights Power
White w/ Red - Oil Pressure from Sender
2 Wires together Black w/Green - Voltage Regulator / Black - Ground
2 Wires together Yellow w/White Fuel Sender to Fuel Gauge / Light Blue - Low Fuel Warning Light

Connector with less wires coming out of it that sets on the lower right of the back of the gauge pod when looking towards the back of the gauge pod;
Black w/Green - Ground
Red w/Yellow - Brake Warning Light
Red w/White - From Temperature Sender to Temperature Gauge
Yellow w/Light Green - Voltage Gauge
Red w/Orange - Voltage Gauge
Purple w/White - Brake Warning Light

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions feel free to pm me or post me a reply on the forum.

If at all possible keep posting here as this is great info for someone else who may run across this problem. When stuff gets PM'd the masses are left out. In some cases that is good but if it is technical stuff we all miss out.

That looks like some great information. Thanks, for the response. I know the 84 and 86 harnesses are different due to the fuel injection, but they may be the same for those specific connectors. I will get out there this weekend and see what I can find out.

Thanks again!!

Hey I appreciate all the help, but I broke out the old factory cluster and chased down each trace until I found the pin outs. I will be posting the color codes for the 84 GT cluster tomorrow along with maybe some pics of my new guages. I managed to get them all working except the speedometer, I need a new cable.

Unfortunately all the wire colors ARE completely different in my 84 then what was in the 86.

Thanks again.
