Question Fuel Pump Cutoff Switch

Can anyone recommend any good tech articles and/or posts about installing a fuel pump cutoff switch in a Fox Mustang? If there are no really good tech articles and/or posts, any suggestions on how to install a cutoff switch? What parts/pieces would I need to obtain? What guage wire would I need to purchase?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

it doesn't have one? you need the switch, the wire pigtail for it, i'd use about a 12 guage wire... the swith literally installs in line w/ the fuel pump power wire.. cut the wire, splice in the pig tail and mount the switch on the inside of the tail light panel.

I was looking for more of a theft deterent type device. Something I could mount inside the cabin of the car and switch to the off position before getting out of the car, basically making the fuel pump not work until the switch is turned to the on positon.

i think a power cutoff switch is more what you're looking for.

i woudn't want to use what you're saying as an everday thing, just my opinion.

go to jegs or summit racing online and order BATTERY DISCONNECT SWITCH or something of a similar name... costs 20-30 bucks and you can extend the wires and place it somewhere inconspicuous (sp?) for your intended use. i'm in the middle of relocating the battery to the trunk, and i'll be installing two of them, one on the outside of the trunk and one like what you're doing.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH lol i was wondering why you wanted to install an inertia switch... well ok then same principle... find a switch that will handle it, but just cut one wire going into the inertia switch which is located on the tail light panel on the driver's side... run 2 wires, one from each part of the wire you just cut, to the front of the car, wherever you want to mount your switch... mount switch, connect wires, and you're done.. done this many times before, there is probably a better place to splice the wire but i hate looking for wires so that's the one i always use
