i got some 4.10s laying around i do way too much long distance highway driving to go with em so i decided not to after all. i need to double check but i believe i still have the tlock for em too. these are for a 7.5. and a 7.5 can definitely handle 350 rwhp on street tires i have 345 rwhp and 350 rwtq and no problems what so ever on street tires

Not hatin anything . Why spend the money on a weak ass 7.5 when you could upgrade to an 8.8 for about the same money . Its stronger and used parts are all over the place for them .

1.) buying used 8.8 2.) buying gears for the 8.8 3.) buying whatever else he may need (gear oil, bearing kit , etc) 4.) labor to install gears into 8.8 5.) labor to swap 8.8 into rear end VS 1.) buying 7.5 tlok 2.) buying 7.5 gears 3.) labor to install gears & tlok Since most people aren't going to do the work them self. And if you find a used 8.8 LET ME KNOW i need one ![]() |

You can waste your money on a 7.5 and then do it all over again and again . I've been building diffs for 12 years and have done just about every diff on the market up to 1 ton trucks . I'm telling you , building a 7.5 Ford diff is a waste of time just like building a GM 7.5 is a waste of time and money . They are too weak and the parts cost as much or more than the 8.8 Ford or 8.75 GM 12 bolt .

If these guys are going over some major hp then sure 8.8. If their staying n/a and just want gears and posi then 7.5 will be fine. GM 7.5 is a waste, since theirs a 5.7L motor infront of it... |

No doubt the 8.8" is stronger but do you need an .50 cal to go deer hunting when a .243 will work just as well?

How about when you are not at the track.
My point was that on 95% of V6 applications the 7.5" is strong enough to do the job. A streetable N/A V6 wouldn't make much more than 300 at the crank if built right, and the 7.5" is strong enough to handle that even with sticky tires.

As said above , the each their own and I wouldn't call a 7.5 a .243 . Its more like a high powered pellet gun .

doesnt matter, we dont drive V6's for a reason. Point made. Its so dumb seeing all the threads about why V8's are better ect...who cares, people have what they have with what they can afford and the limitations that surround them.
It is what it is.

Fine if it is a high powered pellet gun then we are bird hunting. Either way you put it the 7.5" is strong enough to handle 300 crank hp, period.

your both right IMO. and if I read it right, I don't think the source was dogging on you for having a v6. he said the rear end is not worth putting money in. so telling V8's to stay out is just as ignorant as you were say he was being... that's my .02
as for the rear end, if your going to heavily mod, go with the 8.8. if you have questions on how hard it was I can help, and mustangmesh (a v6er) did an 8.8 swap. ask him what he thought of it. He has been there done that. as for the 7.5... if you put the gears into it make sure to get the whole set up including a true track. but verify what your overall goal of your car is to be before you spend the money. I don't see to many people asking to change TO a 7.5. If you change your mind you may not get your money back. that's all I am saying. either way, I am not trying to offend anyone, that's my .02. just seems like when a V8r post into a v6 area, someone starts hating on someone. not real cool I think. Are we not here to appreciate the car together and help each other out?

to answer your question about modding it:
i am just trying to get to 250-300rwhp. from what i have read, the 7.5 can handle anything under 350-400rwhp. i don't plan on getting too crazy with it. it is my DD.
