Gears for a 03 V6

There is probably already a thread for this but I'm too lazy too look and when I did, I couldn't find it. So, anyways, I am looking for a good price on 4:10 gears with T-loc for my 6er. I don't need install with it since I work at an Acura dealer and one of my master techs can do it for me. Any advise or info is greatly appreciated. After I do the gears, I'm just a CAI and UDP away from getting it tuned, I believe.

americanmuscle.com has the gears and all the other stuff but stangmods.com has a gear package with the gears, tloc, bearings, ect.. I'm guessing the package is probably cheaper but I didn't calculate to how much. Also your speedo is going to be off so you may want to get a hand held tuner or a speed calibration before the other stuff because you dont need a tune for a CAI or UDP

yeah it will just correct your speedo so after the gears are installed you can just load the tune

exactly what he's saying, think about it, I assume your going to be modding your engine later no, that 7.5 won't be worth a damn, ditch it and get and 8.8 with t-loc and save yourself some hassle.

np, and you'll save a lot of money if you find one with gears you want, because I gear install alone is a good $300-$450

Make sure the rear end is from 99+ because the older rears are not as wide and your wheels will look wierd on them. Wheel spacers will fix this if you have some laying arround.

The 7.5" with a True-trac and girdle should be good to around 400 rwhp if he ain't using sticky tires. IDK how big of a build he was planning but I thought I would throw that out.

BTW, I'm new here so hi everybody.

yes but if he finds an 8.8 housing for 99+, his axles will slide right in and the brakes will bolt right up, it'll have t-lok, and 4.10's are floating around EVERYWHERE for 8.8's...

True but wouldn't it be more cost effective to stick with the 7.5" if he isn't planning on making over 400 rwhp? Not only that but the 8.8" does weight more. I think a true-trac is around $425 and a girdle would be around $180. It would be easier to find 4.10's for an 8.8" but there are plenty of places that offer 4.10's for the 7.5" as well.

just my .02

I wouldn't trust a 7.5" past 350rwhp.

If he's using sticky radials your probably right, but he would need a lot of work to get that far.
If he is planning on making a lot of power then yeah he would need an 8.8"
