Get this
Well I was driving my wifes 06 ford tauras a few days ago when at a stop light it started to act up like sputtering and such when I pushed in on the gas pedel...talked to gillespie since it happend 35k miles but by the time I got it there the car was at 36,098 so I was 98miles over warrenty...they told me it was either the fuel pump which was $300 for the part and $400 for labor to replace or the fuel pressure regulator which was $280 and $300 to replace I then told them to bring my car around that I would fix it myself.....they charge me $98 to look at it and didn't even reset the code for me......I don't recommend them to anyone.....they are a bunch or rip offs.....the part was $118 at autozone....So I wrote the BBB today and we will see what happens..

Get It?

even if you one mile over the warranty you are no longer covered unless you bought an extended warranty. I had my convertible top go out on me on my v6 and it was only 20 miles out of warranty. Luckly i had an extended warranty and it covered most of the parts

They said to bring it in so they could look at it and try and work something out under warrenty then I get there and they gave me the price of both and that was for me to pay. Then on top of that went I said I just wanted my car back they told me that it was going to be $98 just to look at it.....and they didn't even reset the code....

Then i crossed the 40k mark (still under warranty) and the tranny was slipping and they wouldnt fix it because the manufacturers seal was still on the tranny fluid so since it was past the 30k mark (where they said it should have been changed) they tried to make me pay for it to fix the expensive ass tranny. Well a family friend is a lawyer so we sent him in, and they told him that one of the things they do when they hold a car for the insepctions like they did mine is change out the transmission fluid.. so he threatened law suit and they just "magically" changed their mind and did it under warranty

You have 2 after warranty repairs that can be done up to 75,000 miles.I would save them for any repair that is over $500 bucks. In your case I would do it.

If you are the original owner of the car they can still fix problems, even after the warranty expires. You just have to be pushy sometimes, I know, cuz when I was at the dealer, I was doing warranty parts well beyond 60+ k miles.
If you are not the original owner, then yeah, they will turn you away, but they should have also made it clear that there is a diag charge up front before they write you up. Also, if all they did was check it and the repairs were declined, the tech will not clear the light. I don't even do that in my shop, if I spend my hour diag on the car and the customer declines my recommendations, I leave the light on so it is a reminder that it needs to be fixed. What did you replace then.. the FRP or the pump? An 06 should be a returnless system, the only thing in there is an FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure sensor) on the fuel rail itself.

Sounds like the MAF sensor to me but who knows . Buy an extended warranty on the car and take it in for repairs once the coverage kicks in .....
