getting new tires

so i'm going to get two new tires for the rear 275/40/17. but i don't if i should go with something between 255 and 275s. i plan on to get new rims. so would it be wise to go 275 all around or smaller in the front.

275's are to much for 8 inch wide rims. Look into the yokahoma avs es100's regardless of what size they are a nice tires. DONT BUY KUMO.

My Nitto 555 275/40/17s worked out perfect on the Bullitt 8" rims, only because of the extra lip on the sidewall that the Nittos have. Agreed that most brands aren't as forgiving.

wanna buy some Dante Bullitt Replicas? a pair of 17x9s with Nitto drag radials 275/40/17 (almost no tread left). No curb rash. If so, PM me.

Nittos will work fine because they run so freaking narrow. A 275 nitto is about like a 255 regular tire. Why they do this I dont know. My friends 275 nittos DR's are noticably more narrow than my 275 yokahomas.

you do not EVER run a tire smaller than a 275 on a 17x9 rim EVER it just looks retarded, you can get by with a 265 on a 18 inch but thats about it. Unless you like the look of a stretched tire over a rim, curb rash, and so forth dont do it.

94+ mustangs work perfectly fine with 17x9 rims up front and 275s

I had 275/40 17's on all 4 corners of my 01 GT (stock gt wheels) and they were great. I never knew how much difference tires alone made in a car. Going from the factory tires to the larger was a world of difference in ride quality and control. I do not remember the brand of the 275's though.

hell, my 245's up front rub my huge swaybar.
I have 275's sumotumos(sp?) on my rear and I can hook better on the road now.
I got a pair brand new for $100, that is why i went with that brand.

you could add anotehr rack limiter to stop the rubing, but you will reduce the turning radious a little.

I have 265/40's on the front and they look just fine on the 17x9. They don't look stretched.
