a good/decent hotel near NE SA or downtown

i'm looking for a place to stay with late checkout either just NE of SA about where 35 and 410 meet or maybe in downtown... we'll see if we can afford it. besides the obvious bland chains, does anyone have some badass deals they know about or just a really cool place worth going to? this'll be around june 23rd, thanks.

so far the emily morgan and menger hotels are giving about 10% discount for military... might consider them but still that's a lot of money.

check on hotwire or priceline, usually decent deals on there...pictures of some of the places on there too

hmm... river walk sounds fun, maybe i should make a whole weekend out of it... free happy hour? hmm i could put that to good use, i'll call em and see the terms and conditions.

I don't think I was entirely coherent, so I really couldn't say. You can definitely expect things to be pretty tame this time around, though.
