Got a grand to spend

So say you had a grand to spend and a basically stock 08 GT, besides an S&B Cold air and Mac Axle Back. What all would you buy for performance?

I found a guy selling a BBK 62mm throttle body for only $200 OBO, would that be a good choice to go along with the tuner and gears?

No, it'd be a waste of $200 on a nearly stock s197.
Tuner, then either gears, or some lower spings.

Or, save a little more, and buy some decent wheels, not bullits/cobras/fr500's.

i would only get the throttle body unless your getting a blower. unless you get your car dyno tuned, i have actully seen throttle bodies on s197 hurt the hp.

Well, my plans are to get 4:10's, dyno tune and a o/r H. Thought since the tb was so cheap I'd just throw it in the mix......

u dont need a dyno tune. waste of money at this point.

get 4.10s, tuner (and if u want good results from the gears) get lower control arms.

yes shifters are fun but u will get more out of LCAs

So at what point would a dyno tune be beneficial?

How difficult are the LCA to install? They olok fairly simple. I have lowered a few of my old trucks with control arms and so on....that was pretty simple.

i dont think that tornado thing works. might do more harm than help. You dont need a dyno tune til u get a FI. i bought my tuner from a guy on here for $200 (xcal2) and got the tune from bamachips.com. you tell him your mods and he makes a tune for you car. best thing it only cost $50. Also if you do any changes to the car, all you have to do is email him and he will change the tune for free. I see the xcal2 go on ebay for $200-$250. I noticed a huge difference and is suppose to be around a 20-25rwhp gain

ok you absolutly wrong on the tuner with the s-197

The tune is the single bigest improvement on these cars

A tune alone is worth 20 + rwhp and the difference in driveability and how fast the car feels is HUGE due to the fact the drive by wire tables are so lazy from the factory.

a tuner is my first recomendation for these cars before anything else they realy make that much of a difference in how it feels.

dyno tune every car for maximum performance

shifter is also very important if you know how to shift and want to drive agressivly to maximize your combo

I would do a shifter far before a TB.

Tune + shifter
then 4.10s

later LCAs and better tires
