got my first ticket in the stang!

for no damn front license plate . can you believe it. the cop was a real jerk and edgy. he almost freaked out when i had a open diet dr. pepper can in my drink holder. he made me lift it up slowly. like you cant see its a darn soda can. i have my license plate on my dash also, but he didnt care. i told him i just got it back from the shop last week. after about 20 minutes waiting on him, he comes back and tells me the shop should have put the plate back on and gave me a ticket. has anyone fought this, i know i dont want to pay the fine, i think its like 160 but am not sure. what do you guys think.

It didn't pass!

Sucks that you got the ticket! I got pulled over for the same thing but I played dumb and actually asked the cop to put it on for me (I told him the same thing that I had just got it back from the shop because I got a new bumper...it was on my 98)! haha He just said "No it isn't THAT big of a deal, just get it put on when you get a chance." and then let me go with a warning. Good luck with it! hopefully you can get rid of the ticket!

Yeah thats BS they didnt pass that law. Some of us got Clean ass stangs that dont need the front license plates. A couple weeks ago i got stopped for no front license plate in UC but the cop was really cool and gave me a warning luckily.

Was the cop driving a truck? Sounds just like the guy that pulled Will over a few weeks ago. What exactly does the ticket say? If it says "no front plate," and you technically have one, you may stand a chance. When the cop that got Will saw that he did have a plate in the windshield, he wrote the ticket for "obstructed front plate" instead, so he couldn't fight it.

I don't know where you got the ticket, but many judges will treat it as a fixit ticket. If you put it on and then show them that the problem has been resolved, they will drop it. Keep in mind, I said MOST judges. But then, MOST officers I know don't write tickets for no front plate to begin with.

yea i even got pulled over by a trooper and got out of the ticket w/ a warning... the bad thing is that in that area, it's mostly all white ppl and i was w/ the girl i was dating at the time who was black and they seriously were f'n with us about it.. they pulled us out of the car and questioned us sepparately about what we were doing and where we were going and why and junk.. it was really shitty... but at least no ticket.. gl w/ getting rid of it... just call about it right away...

is it a san antonio ticket.

put you L.p on your front bumper for temp. maybe use tape or something to hold it up that wont harm your paint. take a pic, reproduce it and take it to the judge on your court date. that might help.

just dont take your car on the court date!!!lol

Sorry dont get why your complaining about getting a ticket the "Law" says plate has to be visible and mounted onn the front most part of the vechile(which aint the dash) so you were in violation of the law (be it a lame one) and you got popped for it.
I dont really see the big deal put it on and be done with it. I run mine have since car was new simply because it eliminates a "reason" for them to stop you and possibly get you for something else as well.

Good luck with dismissal.
Id say 4 screws are alot cheaper and less hassle than the alternative.

I agree with that which is why *I* put my front plate on my 98 now! Wasn't too happy about it but it beats giving them a reason to pull you over and possibly getting a ticket for more than just that!

I wouldn't think that sitting on the dash meets the 'placed in the front' definition either. That isn't the front, it's inside the vehicle.

Everyone knows it's the law, some choose to ignore it. If you do ignore it, just be prepared to be pulled over and quit the bitching.

Does this mean your own plate or just a plate? because i have a spurs championship plate that looks like a texas plate. very nice....I didnt know that the no front licence plate needed law didnt pass. Is there any place you can go to see what you can and cannot do.. I mean this is stupid. I think that this officer should have pulled him over for somthing bigger instead of worrying about a licence plate being on the front or what type of soda he was drinking. I have had my share of visits with officers. I DONT MEAN TO OFFEND OFFICERS OR MEMBERS WHO ARE....THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. Not saying that they were just hassling me, but there are just those type of d--k cops that think that they are above the law, that make the ones that really fair look bad. I understand that the law is the law and i do abide by them. I just want to make a point.
