Cool, it's a good start. Might think about some gears maybe if you get bored get some pullys for fun. There very easy to install and a good bolt on. The gears you might have to have installed. Good luck![]()

3.73s are a very good choice. You can still get good mileage if you have a good combo and it is tuned correctly. The stock 2.73s and 3.08s keep too much of a load on the engine to get the best fuel mileage. I had an '86 that got 26 mpg to 28 mpg at 85+ mph, it had 26" tall tires, a 2.95 first gear T5 and a set of 4.10s. I think the over all racio in 5th was the same as a car running stock tires, stock 3.35 first gear T5 and 3.55s. The same car after I traded it to a friend consistantly got 29 mpg at 95 mph with nothing but high way use. Installing a lower gear set will help fuel mileage as long as you keep your foot out of the trottle and not go to too low of a gear, 4.10s with stock height tires is too low.

The car is still street driven, with a best of 10.21 at 131 mph with a 1.51 60' spinning lightly. With this combo it made a best of 460 hp and 410 lbs of torque at the wheels. |

shorties do give gains on a 5.0 and are cheap.
I ran the bbk EL for ever on my 12 second stock headed 5.0 ![]()

+1 Long tubes are nice, but if your doing the install there a pain in the ass. I don't have a lift so if you have access to one then it makes it much easer. using ramps and going from the bottom is still not easy but again a lift is where it's at. ![]()

Cool, the install is easy, especally with shorties. the equals are also somewhat easy. Just have to undo the stearing knuckle for the steering wheel and slide in from underneath. The shorties should go in from the top. Mine did anyway. Good luck ![]()

If you're goingto do headers, definitely put in a pair of long tubes.
The install is not all that difficult ni your driveway/garage. The passenger side will go in from the top and the drivers side will go in from the bottom. I can do a pair of long tubes in a Fox/SN 5.0 in about 2 hours without a lift. |
