It means it doesn't have catalytic converters. It's just a straight pipe, and "illegal" in Texas.

I don't know for sure, to be honest. I didn't read the rule book. I'm not originally from Texas. Never had to worry about inspections... I just assumed that since the car is equipped with an exhaust system, sans the cats, that it is "illegal" because I was under the impression that it wouldn't pass the inspection.

In 65 they didn't have cats or anything, except in california.
Your car has to have the type of emission equipment it was built with.

O/R = Off Road, since it is not legal for street use.

correct same way if your car was built before air bags were required your not required to have them

The mufflers are what make the most difference. If you had LT's, O/R H pipe, and Ford Racing catback the car wouldn't be too much louder than it would with Flowmaster welded into the stock catback.

wrong.... not to get into a street racing discussion here, so we will talk about this being performed on a rivate track from a roll. There are several more variables from a roll and ways to beat a faster car than yours from a roll. Especially when you are racing something other than a mustang,

duration of race
turbo lag
transmission gear ratios and how they work with the powerband
aerodynamics
reaction "the hit" is pretty much never even. if someone rolls out on you by just 1 mph faster, you will not catch this car even if your car traps 1 mph faster
Good roll racing is a science. also never place a bet on a roll race

believe it or not, with stock mustang 5 speed gearing, an n/a mustang has better average power throughout the race if you go from a 3rd gear roll from above peak torque rather than a 2nd gear roll.

play your cards right and you can beat a faster car if you ick your rolls wisely and know your car

On my car the mid pipe makes a bigger difference. I had muffler put on my car a couple of months ago and it didnt make that much difference. I put the stock one back one. Last week i put on a o/r x pipe and now it too loud.
